I must disagree with you both Barry and Ludwig, I remember the Cotchin hit and while I agree it was wrong, I wouldn't have called it a blatant attempt at taking out a player. Hell, he never even got rubbed out for it! Even though I thought he should have.Possibility? That happens all the time. I can't remember which final it was, but one that springs to mind is a cotchin ( dirty grub,) hit on Dylan shiel in a final when he played for the giants. Blatant head contact to the opposition's hot player. I could find many other examples.
The game has well moved past players being ordered to deliberately take out the opposition, whether in Grand Finals or home and away matches. I'd be happy to hear of any more recent examples that have taken place! I can't really think of any since the 90s!

It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

If we only play 2-3 quarters of football, then 15th place is where we should be. True, we lost a couple by a point and two and a draw and that maybe down to inexperience. True, we’ve had some long term injuries to key players. True, we’ve had to endure some awful umpiring. But also true- the players and coaches, especially Horse, would be just as disappointed with 15th place as all of us supporters.15th place. The number on the back of Sam Wicks. It's all starting to make sense now.
The Swans players were so focused on the Whisper Challenge that they forgot they were fighting for a premiership.
If not for an administrative error by North Melbourne we might still be in the race for the Harley Reid Cup.
One consolation is that we should have an easy draw next year. We might even be playing against our VFL side twice. Just to give us a leg up.
Should we request a priority pick? Maybe one ahead of Pick 1?
We’ve been through worse- 72 years to wait for a flag. Let’s get behind our boys and cheer them as loudly as we can. We’re the Bloodstained Angels forever!????Comment

The whole point of the send off rule is that the team with the player is one player short, otherwise where's the disadvantage?

Really?I can see the possibility where in a grand final a player purposely concusses a good player from the opposition side to help win the premiership. They wouldn't care about being suspended for several weeks to start the following season. A send off rule would make sense to prevent this.
1989 and 1990 aside (and that was a very different era), have you got any examples of this occurring?Comment

Yes, I became a Swans supporter during the low ebb of the early 90s*. Apart from the odd down year, I've been luckily supporting the Swans through what is unquestionably their most consistently successful era. An era where we've had excellent coaches, highly competent administrators and a huge range of quality players. So, I have little time for throwing the toys out of pram, that some posters indulge in after a loss.If we only play 2-3 quarters of football, then 15th place is where we should be. So if Nankervis is sent off, there is no disadvantage?Comment

I also had the same thoughts. With their constant fade outs during matches it seems they are not placing a lot of value of winning this year. Either that or they cannot handle the extra pressure when a team starts fighting back. The Allies were undefeated so they may have their eyes on 2 -3 academy players from the Swans and Tasmania in the upcoming draft.15th place. The number on the back of Sam Wicks. Yes, it takes so little for many posters to lose the plot. Supporting the team is a journey, not a destination....Yes, I became a Swans supporter during the low ebb of the early 90s*.
