I'm not arguing that Croad is a superstar, I'm simply saying that I would rather have him than Fosdike. I struggle to see where Fosdike would fit into our best 22, considering we have many small skinny players of his type. However we don't have many big bodied key position players.

St K finished top of the ladder in 1997 (the year we got Goodes and Saddo). Next year they came 6th and in 1999 came 10th.

No...they got every single one right...no duds.

Around 10 out of 11 for recycled or enticed players (only Hamill and Penny were wanted by their previous clubs...so that's Black, Guerra, Powell, Voss, Thompson, Milne, Brooks, Knobel...Callahan is a dud IMO...ther's also a young Brisbane player who we haven't seen yet).

Collingwood (and Sydney) have had choices and chances not too far off St. Kilda's. They chose better and have played better.

They have six first-round draft picks that are performing well and contributing to their success, we have three that aren't.

Sure they were lucky that they were good recruiting years, however that is an excuse for the club (which I wasn't commenting on) not the individual players concerned.

I was just commenting that they had early - or the earliest - picks from the first round. But you can't take it away from them that they have picked well and (more importantly) nurtured their talents very well. You see how a player flourishes when they move to a new team (Bazza and Stafford come to mind) that there's a lot more than raw skill (though that helps!).

Last year Roos seemed to get the very best from many of his players. This year he seems to be getting very good results from his young players. How that augurs for the future who can say without chicken entrails?

Us, Melbourne and the Saints have basically the same list as last year.

Ok you can argue the point about Cresswell and Schuable etc but virtually its the same. The Saints have Guerra now which I guess in hindsight has been good.

They have our confidence from last year. We don't have it anymore. That is the difference.

You would have to say that one of the poorest teams on paper we have ever fielded was against Port in that final.

Doesn't matter who you play - if they are fired up and play as one, on their day they can beat anyone.

I've watched Fosdike since day dot and never thought he has been that bad. End of the day not sure what the point is in talking about it. He's ours now.

It's a bit like your kids. They might not be the best or the brighest or going to win Nobel Prizes but they're yours.

PS: When all of you whinge and whine about draft picks just remember that Michael Jordan wasn't number 1.

Look I think he's been doing ok, in fact I thought his game in Canberra was fantastic.
Sure he's no Paul Kelly, however I think he'll be a fine outside midfielder.

If Croad goes forward, the defenders play attention . Same for Didak.

Wherever Fosdike plays, nobody cares. He is not going to hurt the opposition enough, even when he is on song. Time to let him go.

We dont have to put up with his craps for any longer. There is a mechanism in the AFL called "trade" for us to do it. We cannot trade our kids but we could always trade our players :-).

His skills for an outside midfielder is appalling. The guy does not have any composure. As soon as he hears closing footsteps, he panicks and tumbles the ball. His ball kicking is average. I could not see any of his attributes that is a bit better than average. A package of averages would never deliver you the cigar.

Indeed lets trade him, he's failed to live up to his potentail as an early draft pick, the same of course with Jude Bolton.
Indeed Jarred Crouch, while he's a competent small backman, he was far too good a draft choice for that position.
Matthew Nicks is clearly passed it as have Williams and Maxfield.
And as for Saddington, he's failed to become Glen Jackovich so let's tade him for draft #67 next season.
MickyO only plays half a dozen games a year so he's not earning his money. Speaking of injuries ditch James, Schauble and Fixter they'll never come good.
And as for the Ruckmen, Doyle hes had years to develop he's failed lets ditch him. And Adam Goodes, he'll never be worth more as trade bait than now (pity we didn't dump him just after the Brownlow!)
Barry Hall now, he cost us three draft choices including Del Santo, so let's ask for a refund.
Nick Davis apparently eats potato wedges, gets the ****s when he loses and has a high opinion of himself so we can well do without him.

Of course we'd need a lot of cab charge forms because none of the new kids would be old enough to drive to training ~ but other than that let's not bother developing the existing players.

The Swans picked up no big name recruits except Nick (lost Kelly, Dunkley and Schwass) and yet got within a quarter of the grand final!

Within a quarter or within a second, we are a club with no premiership after 70 years. It seems clear to me that we have fallen back to our old mentality this season after the high from last year. This has happened times and times again and that is disappoiting.
