Interesting ... being underdog and having a player go down badly seems to inspire us upwards and get us focused. Much as I regret Saddo's injury last night, if it kickstarts us on a serious winning streak, it will have been worthwhile.

We CAN win for sure! It's time to start getting excited for Sunday.

Not wanting to be trite, but from a player perspective he is not that huge a loss, especially given his time spent in the forward line this year.

Yes, it is tragic for him personally and reduces the options we have. But there are far more crucial players than him, who we just couldn't afford to lose.

You got it AC. Like your attitude.

If we do go down then at least it is a yardstick and a guage as to how good a team we really are this season. And how much we have to improve.

Sunday will tell us a lot abut what this sde is capable of, I think. If we start by slamming through 2-3 quick goals and the crowd gets into it, what the fellas' confidence lift. And what those lairish handballs start hitting their targets.

I have watched nearly every saints match this year and they are simply fantastic to watch.

I hate losing - but if we do, but we had a real go, I will be able to handle it. We have had a mediocre season so far and while I do believe we CAN win, huge improvements are required just to be competitive I think.

I am really suprised at how underated St.Kilda remain to so many people!!! They must love it, as we did last year.

Opened up games are what we are good at.

On the contrary, it's not in the least trite. In fact, as far as I can tell, out of all the Swans fans on this board, you are the only one who felt the need to make such an observation.

It says more about you than it does about Saddington.

touche. If I had to pick between Hall doing an ACL and Saddo doing one, who would I pick? neither, I'd rupture both my own before I would consider either.

Being a Sainter I've seen most of our games live this year, and like many others I'm agog at our skill level. A positive for the Swans will be the smaller ground. I get the impression we need a bit more room to run into.

Whatever the result, it'll be a close and exciting game. IMHO

I've been confident about us winning against the Sainters even during the 4 match losing streak (which is a bit strange, I'll admit) but last night I watched the replay of them absolutely demolishing Carlton and now I'm getting scared. At every contest they looked as though they had 5 extra players on the field and they just seem to be able to link up so easily.

The strange thing is, I can see us winning 'cause it's the type of game that our team seems to thrive on, but I could just as easily see us going down like Carlton did.

Talk about a team of champions versus a champion team (although St Kilda probably fit into both categories now ).

The first game I ever saw live at the scg that the swans lost was in 1997. It was against the saints, and they killed us by about 100 points. I was shattered, reduced to tears, suddenly realising that we could be beaten at the fortress. What a naive teenager I was!

After the siren, they got in a line, arm in arm, and marched down to their supporters. In a game they were never meant to win, they came out and demolished a side that had beaten all comers at the scg for well over a year, something like 20 home games in a row. (I hope my memory serves me well on all this)

My dream for next sunday is seeing the swans team arm in arm marching around the boundary at about 4pm with 'Cheer Cheer' playing over the loudspeaker. Dirt, sweat, blood and a massive smile etched on every one of their faces.

                        Bring it on!

Sharpie, I think you'll find they were 2 different games - I was at both of them. The one where the Saints stopped your winning streak was earlier and we only just got over the line. At 3/4 time you were about 38 points up and looked liked winning easily. The scoreboard said something like... "another one bites the dust" At the final siren, they played the Swans song by mistake!! From memory the 101 win was at night.

yeah, i think you may be right, both very scarring events in themselves. I must have just amalgamated them together in my mind to ease the suffering!

hehehe, I've done a similar thing.... I remember those 2 wins but I can't actually remember losing at the SCG! Those memory banks have been erased Actually I do remember one game where, in desperation, our coaching staff arranged our jumpers to say... WIN. It did no good, you killed us that day

Funny how if you say you tip with your head, you are a logical supporter, yet if you say thet the Swans will probably lose next week, you border on being a traitor....

Personally, I like to remain positive and am hopeful we can win.
On any given day any team can win IMO.
And then you have how well a team matches up on the other team.
                                etc
                                Lots of variables.

So I hope for a win, but won't be slitting my writs if we lose either...
