Yep remember the final well, Lockett was down the Paddo end in the last quarter. Winmar nearly won it in the dying moments... it was one hell-a-va game.

Yeah, absolutely pouring with rain as I remember. We were already without PK who'd done his knee a couple of months earlier, and then lost either Schwatta or Cressa earlier in the game.

I was with two St Kilda fans who had behaved appallingly during the 101 defeat (given that they used to barrack for the Swans during every other game of the season) so it was nice revenge to pip them during the one that counted.

Can't remember the rain that night, (think it was the following week against the Crows).

Was a great night though!! Big turnaround in 1998 from a 101 point loss to a one point finals win.

Pity losing to the eventual premiers though..really thought we were in with a chance in '98.

There's slim chance I'll make it this week. I love the SCG with it's wonderful old stands. While I can see the reasons for demolishing the old Members stand at the MCG, there'll always be something missing when you look across the ground.... I think it's called history.

Didn't we win that game by 2 pts? Roosy's last win as a player.

May have been raining the following week as well - can't quite remember. But for the Saints game we were sitting in seats a few rows forward from our normal ones in the O'Reilly and we weren't under cover. I remember my two Saints "friends" going inside to watch the game from the bar because they were cold and wet - or maybe they were just pissed off!

Or maybe it's my mind playing tricks on me, because now I come to think of it, it was the Adelaide game when Cressa went off early injured.

Indeed it was, Cressa was knocked out 'mysteriously' on a ball up after getting, I think, 7 possessions in 5 minutes.

It absolutely belted down against the Crows the week after and yes that was where Cressa left the field with a broken jaw - lucky for him it was our last game of the season in the end meaning his consecutive games streak continued.

I think it also rained a bit in the Saints game the week before, but nothing too bad.

                            @@@@ the history I say.

Those stands are a pain in the a*se. I was stuck behind one of those stupid poles that support the roof in the Ladies Stand a couple of weeks ago.

As I've said on numerous occasions: relocate the old stands to Nth Sydney where the other ones are and build a proper modern stand. If they can do it at the MCG they can do it here.

I've watched the Saints a few time this year and they are a great side. They have gradually become better over the period of the season as their confidence has grown.

However, the game against Carlton shouldn't be used too much as a yardstick. I was just watching it and Carlton were abysmal. Some of it was the pressure from the Saints, but a lot of it was their own doing too, probably more so I think. That the Saints would have smashed them anyway is undoubtable, but I don't think it would have been quite that big a win.

Whilst the SCG members are asthetically pleasing, the rest of the ground is a mishmash of stands and concourse than do not match and look sod awesome. Sitting in in the Cheer Squad area with is actually below ground level, with a five foot high fence in front of me and a 8 metre wide walkway separating me from the rest of the barrackers in the upper tier.

Outside of Manuka and Geelong, sadly I rate the SCG along with the worst grounds in the league in terms of its facilities. My area of the ground needs a dramatic redevelopment. The tan-coloured seats that haven't been changed leave hope that this will indeed be happening one day.
