I don't mind him, but I do think he is overrated by some here. He is an okay to above-average midfielder, but he's nowhere near elite or first-rate. Main problem I have is that a lot of his disposals are not particularly damaging, as I explained a bit earlier.

Yeah, but apart from my own B&F prediction, the ratings are from independent sources . . . . i.e. not from Swans' fans. The point being that the AFL world at large rates Bolton very highly . . . certainly well within the $300k bracket.
For a bloke who is so highly rated by other clubs, he doesn't seem to get tagged all that much.

It's true, Swans on-ballers never seem to get tagged too much. Nothing like the attention Kelly used to get. Williams always gets tagged when he plays on the ball, and occasionally Kirk gets a minder.

But I guess that's true of any team really . . . if you try to tag more than one or two of the opposition, it's pretty much like conceding defeat from the start.

Even when we play the Lions, we mostly appear to tag just Voss and Akermanis. That doesn't mean that Black, Lappin, Power, and Hart are disregarded, but if we tagged them all we'd never generate a single clearance.

Kirk usually tags Black when we play Brisbane.

I noticed you left out the most important part of my post, does that mean that you have a proclivity of favrotisim for the better looking players, beleiving them to be worthy of more money than say jason Akermanis (or someone equally as ugly ??)

Simply because his disposals arent damaging. You tag guys who get alot of the ball and have deadly skills.

No, it means that your communication skills are so appalling that I didn't even realise that there was anything important in your post.

And it's procilivity to, or for, not of. And I think you probably mean predilection, or perhaps propensity, rather than proclivity.

Now, now, Cliff... it's one thing to dish out a much needed English lesson... but starting a sentence with 'and'? I thought that was against the rules.

Usually? Occasionally, maybe. Not even Kirk can tag Voss and Black at the same time.

Not sure about the deadly skills bit? But you certainly tag the bloke who is most likely to get the ball at stoppages. For the Swans, that would probably be Williams or Kirk, I guess.

No, Kirk usually takes Black. A mixture of players, including J Bolton, usually play on Voss.

                            fair enough

a lot of the team are like that and have been in the past sadly...... i can think of a lot of players on or who have been on our list who commentators would say "one day they will be a champion" before u know it they retire and the day hasnt come!

Well thank you herr headmaster, but either way your feelings for Jude... in that special way... ought not confuse you as to his true value as a football player.
I am sure that there would be some rich men out there who would be prepared to pay jude $300 000 + for services renderd, but that kind of value is not really a part of football, is it ?
Unless all we care about is how good looking our players are, for the sake of fan fantasy.
Jude is not worth $330 000.

Surely when salary is concerned, the position the player plays in is more important than how good that player is in their position in the team... if you follow?

I can not image a ruckman getting a huge salary, no matter how good he is. But I would of thought your main attacking player would get the most money (CHB or FF) with the on-ballers second. I agree with others that Jude is probably not in the top five players in their position in the club (or maybe even top 10) but he plays a very important position so may be able to ask for more.

At least, if he gets this contract we won't be seeing another "experienced" midfielder coming in via a trade.
