I'm not sure if he actually struggled to support White. Melbourne don't like taking White off - they tend to run him all game- so that presents limited opportunities for Jolly. I don't think he's great, but I think he's reasonable and probably worth a second round pick.

None of our apponents moved their key defender from Barry Hall to Doyle for precisely this reason.
On the other hand a 7fter moving about near goal is ~ I'm not sure why but unfortunately most ruckmen are crap at this.Comment

Thats why I think Ottens would be good for us, providing he is fit.Comment

The guy will be ok but to say he is worth a first round pick is out of this world. Melbourne will be laughing all of the way to the draft.Comment

I think that's a reasonable outcome.
Hopefully we can do something exciting tomorrow though!Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I would say the price was a bit too high, but considering other clubs were after him , we may have been forced to offer #15. Hopefully he can flourish after leaving Melbourne, a la Simmonds at Freo.Comment

I don't know much about Jolly but my nephew is a MFC member.
He is disappointed to lose him, and rates him as one of his favourites.
He is apparently quite tough and skillful. Still developing though in areas such as contested marking."As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.Comment

I tend to agree (unless we get Ottens though)Comment

I agree with most of you guys - I think Jolly for a round one pick is a fu*king joke, however I had lunch with my best mate today who is a mad Melbourne supporter and he really rates Darren Jolly. He is a pretty good judge so hopefully it will be a good deal for us.
We obviously need a ruckman and the Ottens deal looks like its not going to fall our way so at least we've got somebody.
We can only wait until next year I suppose.Comment
