Originally posted by Bleed Red Blood What are you talking about Schneiderman, Holland had like 10 marks and a couple of goals. Easily the Hawks best forward.
Yes and pretty much all of it in the last quarter and a half and most of it well away from the danger zone.
I missed it too. He came off in the 3rd quarter (I think) and I didn't know why, but my husband said he'd been looking wobbly. His last 2 kicks were after he'd been knocked out.
At the after match, there was quite a bit made of it. One of the smaller hawks players was the culprit. Baz said he had no memory of the game, I suspect he was playing it a bit, and it was no memory of the actual incident.

50 point lead??
And the Bazza incident was where he had his head smashed into the turf by a tackler. It may have been number 28, but regardless it looked pretty heavy. Certainly he looked groggy on his feet for the last quarter.
Originally posted by Schneiderman No I actually watched the whole game. And noticed that Holland had very little impact. Because of LRT. Like you said... stats dont mean a lot, and he did just fine.
I thought Holland had one of his better games in a while - 14 poss, 9 marks and 1 goal at CHF in a losing side isn't bad.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

That doesn't say much for his recent form.
He was one of the better Hawks in that he marked well but his disposal was dreadful and if you are a forward taking 9 marks you should appear as a threat for at least part of the game.
That said, the fact that he didn't do any real damage was more down to him than LRT. Was a pretty disappointing first outing from LRT given how cool he has looked in pre-season and how well he was reading the ball. But then, Rome wasn't built in a day...

He certainly hit his head on the ground very hard, but it looked like run-of-the-play to me, rather than any deliberate action of a Hawks player.
Surprisingly, I didn't notice any Hawthorn players trying to rough him up when he ran back to his position . . . . .
Also thought that Buchanan looked very groggy from a couple of very hard knocks . . . I suspect he shouldn't have been on the ground.
I think the tackler was Hodge, couldn't get a clear shot of his face or number. Hall played on after that incident, even though he looked groggy, and kicked a goal 2 minutes later.
Very enjoyable Sunday afternoon.I thought our chasing and tackling was fantastic.I have been critical of Davis' application but today he was great His chasing set up at least one goal and he was very active putting pressure on Hawthorn's backline when they were in posession.
Jolly surprised me.I thought his preseason form wasn't anything to get excited about but today he was great.
Hawthorn were terrible. They seemed to have a competition between themselves as to who could make the biggest blunder.
