I did notice that too from where i was sitting (Bay 29-You rock!).
Lots of new members (nice lookers too) moving from the otherside to the concourse.

Anyways. RE: The game

- Finally we have a decent tap ruckman. Jolly was superb! The running goal the highlight (he was flying down the wing, thought it was a tall midfielder).
- C Bolts in the middle worked really nicely. Knows how to find the ball, and when forward is a dead eye dick.
- Bucky tried hard, but made some really bad errors, still 16 disposals aint that bad so he knows how to find the pill.
- Hall's put on 2 kilos, now 101kg
- Willo is Willo
-Kirky quiet
- Jude Bolts had a solid game, took some nice grabs too (strong hands)
- Davis is back!
- Going to be lots of quality forwards options once Micky O and Saddo move back in there.
- Hawthorn played like their colours...POO!

Roos pointed out in his press conference that what makes the team a good one is that everyone takes their role and performs to it. Doyle delivered on that front yesterday.

I don't think we'll see all three play every game but it was very effective yesterday given how dangerous Everitt can be in front of the goals and how huge he is. Bolton, Barry or Goodes would have been slaughtered by him.

Also worth noting that Vandenburg - the Hawks new captain and midfield enforcer - touched the ball 8 times, and only once after half-time I think. I reckon Kirky did his job there.

I think it was just a friendly reminder to the players and particularly Roos that we enjoy an attacking style of play like in 2003, and that we should continue in the same vein in 2005. I dont believe there was any malice in it, so please get over it.

I'm sure I've seen the Tigers do the same so it can't just be put down to the "newbie" status of many of the Sydney crowd.

On the other hand, maybe they just figure that most Richmond fans will have forgotten the words, so long is it since they have had a chance to sing it!

The only other time I've seen words put up on the screen was Port games. Cher and I had a good chuckle at the words on the screen!

The game was so great. Ryano did that awesome tackle in the 1st Qtr. Wasn't it SO stupid when the boys were playing kick-to-kick in the last qtr? Bloody hell, we could've snuck in another goal! I was sitting with Cher, Des & Jay and we had really good seats. Such a nice view. I filmed heaps and took lots of pix but I thought the CS could've held the banner up, turned it round so we could all see both sides. I took this really good pic of the kick-to-kick. I'll post some pics because a few of them are beauties.

Did anyone else know that the little keyring was a medallion aswell? I was lucky to get into the aftermatch in the Noble stand. I recorded everyone singing the theme song and put it as my ringtone

I was so worn out, I slept half an hour in the plane coming home (which was the only time of the day I was silent) and poor Robbie had to sit by himself and I was too short to sit where he was and then as we all checked in and I showed my ID, the lady goes, "So, which is your first name?" and then she's like, "So, how do you say it? Boo?" Gosh! then I nearly walked through the metal detectors with my back pack on. Then Cher was going off with her bracelets and had to get that thingy done to her bag where they scan it and Robbie and I cracked a few jokes about that.

What a fully cool day, imagine if we lost, though!

re: LRT being the answer at CHB

for the long term, i think we need to stick him there and watch him get beaten a few times. he will benefit from it and we will benefit from it, in the long run.

a good footballing lesson happened today, mcveigh was moved onto crawford and crawford smashed him, it was part way through the third quarter and it is when crawford inspired the mini-comeback. mcveigh will benefit from this as well.

as soon as mathews came on, he had his head over the ball. encouraging.



i hope i dont put an omen on the side, but, who are we going to drop for schaubs and magic? the easiest would be LRT for schaubs and doyle for magic. read above as far as LRT is concerned and when we play the hawks will be the rare occasion that we play three ruckmen

Having just watched the game for the third time, the bit I enjoy the most is Bevan doing a Tommy Hafey KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) and just sinking his slipper into the ball after everybody else has tried to use skill and finesse, and it goes through for a beautiful goal. Footy is a simple game. Just kick the thing through the goals!!!!!!!
I reckon moments like those make up for his rashness. At least he's having a go. I can feel a love child coming on.

The great thing about watching Bevan last year was that you could see him learn as he went. Apart from his still-present tendency to tackle a little too rashly (ie too high) he rarely makes the same mistake twice.

Even his most obvious blunder yesterday - when he ran straight into the tackler - came about, I reckon, because he was trying not to take the easy option - a sideways handball - and looking for something more constructive.

As it happens, the sideways handball (to Maxfield?) was a good option, and what he actually did was a terrible option! But too often you see younger players overly anxious to pass the ball off quickly, especially to the highly experienced players, without trying to be constructive with what they do.

Oh yeah, as we exited Central Station, we walked up Foveux St which had the steepest hill and there was a little Milk Bar up the top (which would've made lots of money for water seeing that going up that hill is a death sentence and torture) anyway, I walked in and from the counter to the shelves was about 1m width and this guy accidently knocked over a rack of lollies and I picked some of them up to help and looked at the rappers and they were called "BoniBons"

Davis was fabulous. His chasing of the Ball. His trumping of the Hawthorn player holding the ball in the last quarter unreal. Great to see and good report in today's tele on him too.

What a game it was good to get the percentage - of course would of liked more. But overall a win by 10 goals is pretty good. Now let us do the same or better to those damn Roos. Want to go down to the game and see a win. May they keep it up. I think having competition from the guys still to come into the team is a good thing for us.

A quick legal shepherd with a couple of players on Davis' opponent would give Davis a few steps advantage, so he could get free around 50 and receive a good pass.

McVeigh, Spriggs and Fosdike all can play in the midfield and run all day so they are similar in that respect. McVeigh's main advantages over the other two (leaving "thinking of the future" aside) are
1/. has much better disposal by both hand and foot (and on either side) than Spriggs or Fosdike. 10 disposals by McVeigh probably equals 15 by Spriggs or Fosdike
2/. he is a good mark, which is something our midfield can lack a bit at times.

it a nice problem to have (too many players to fit in the team) and if we can keep it going this team will go a long way. I think the quality of the players left out oftens tells the story on how the team is going
