Don't you get it? He's related to footyhead!
Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.

Look here Lobster Lips. I am a positive/super optimistic person but am I correct in saying only 2 sides have won 18 games in ancient history. Certainly we haven't got within a bulls roar of such a figure, or are you just defending the fairies in the Faraway Tree.

Sorry Nico. I need one of those little smiley things that means taking the piss. Anything over 15 will be lovely.

        Do Lobsters have lips?

          More than two.

Off the top of my head, I can think of Essendon winning 21 in 2000, Carlton winning 20 in 1995, West Coast winning 19 in 1991, Hawthorn winning 19 sometime in the '80s, and I think a couple of other sides have won 19. Port won 18 in 2002 and 2003, and Essendon in 1999, as well.

That's modern history Charlie. I think Nico was talking about the Babylon Bears in 481 BC who went through undefeated. I don't know who the other team was.

The Theban Tigers were also undefeated, but was in the early years of the League, about 1376BC.

That's with the modern rules of course, and modern concepts of fixturing. I hear that the Cro-Magnon team went undefeated in Europe about 30,000 years ago in their European Tour.

As for the Swans' season predictions, 18 wins is too optimistic leaves little room for the occasional upset that the spawn-of-evil opposition sides manage to pull against us. 16-6 would be respectable. We could have gone 16-6 last year had we been as consistent against the lowly sides as the top sides. (Last season, there was a point almost halfway through the season where the Swans were the only side that had not beaten a bottom-8 side!)

16 wins is not to be taken lightly. In 1996, we finished on top with a 16-5-1 record.

Unfortunetly this thread is symptomatic as to why the swans are such an unsuccesful club.

18 wins in the regular season is what is required to win a premiership. Forget this cr@p about 15 or 16 wins, finishing mid-8 and relying on luck to sneak a flag. Thats fairy stuff. It will never work.

Our team is peaking at the moment, as far as the Roos rebuild goes, and we have an extremely soft draw.

I repeat 18 H&A wins is required for a premiership. A premiership is EXPECTED every 16 years. Until people here and the swans expect these events, we will never acheive them.

                          FFS, honourable 4ths are useless.

                            Port 2004 - 17 wins
                            Brisbane 2003 - 14 wins
                            Brisbane 2002 - 17 wins
                            Brisbane 2001 - 17 wins
                            Essendon 2000 - 21 wins
                            Kangaroos 1999 - 17 wins
                            Adelaide 1998 - 13 wins
                            Adelaide 1997 - 13 wins
                            Kangaroos 1996 - 16 wins
                            Carlton 1995 - 20 wins

                            Essendon 1993 - 13 wins

Over that time (from 1994 to 2004), 16 wins would have (or did) provide finishes at the end of the H&A season of:

                            - 1st, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 2nd

It doesn't matter wether it is 13 H&A wins or 24 H&A wins.

It is winning all games in September that really matters

Excluding the jammy flags where the dominant team(s) crumbled at finals time:

                                Port 2004 - 17 wins
                                Brisbane 2002 - 17 wins
                                Brisbane 2001 - 17 wins
                                Essendon 2000 - 21 wins
                                Kangaroos 1999 - 17 wins
                                Kangaroos 1996 - 17 wins
                                Carlton 1995 - 20 wins

                                Average = 18 wins.

Accept nothing less. More so in the case where there are interstate finals right up until the grand final now.
