Yeap, MM got a bagful kicks against him by Lockett . The worst LRT got was only 4 goals (?) in a match. Of course, none of his opponents was the big Tony . I think the whole LRT debate is becoming academic. We all know that LRT did improve in last game and thus there is no reason to drop him for this week.

The remaining of the debate could wait until then which should supply us with more ammunication so to speak. Let's wait until the next game is over, guys.

We don't need LRT against the Dogs anyway. We'd be finding a forward line of theres comprising; Murphy, Johnson and Giansiracusa and maybe Adam Morgan.

So do we play him because we can?? Does he warrant selection without an obvious opponent??

I'd rather Vogels in the forward line.
          Johnson - CBolton
          Giansiracusa - Dempster
          Morgan - Schuable
          Murphy - Barry

          Hmm.

I don't think that is necessarily a reason not to drop him though. If you need to drop a tall, then Vogels could feasibly (but unlikely) get the nod ahead of LRT despite the latter's improvement, because they want to give Vogels more time and they like the look of him.

Throw him in at FF, and tell him to lead away from MOL, create confusion and maybe even snag a goal or two. They would be worried about the height in the fwd line then.

Great work Scott. Did MM start off as a forward? He has such a big free kick differential.

                      I'd rather Saddington at FF.

Yes, these statistics show that Mal Michael was significantly better than LRT in his first 30 games while the current statistics merely show that he is significantly better now.

Not sure where he was playing but he's always received more free kicks than he's conceded.

Also, I assume those stats come from rleague.com and there doesn't appear to be free kick stats for any matches prior to 1998. He did play 13 games in 1997 and maybe they would have affected the free kick stats.

In regards to those stats, they are interesting but they tend to show who is the best midfielder. Things like spoils, marks against and goals against are the most important stats for defenders but I have no idea where to find them. Without those stats it's really hard to compare. For example, if you compare Max Hudghton to Mal Michael using those stats you could say that Max has been the better player over the course of his career.

If anyone is to go for Ball its a choice between LRT and Saddo. Both tall and have both shown less than Vogels in the past two weeks. Heck I'd even drop MOL (if he was under an injury cloud) and keep Vogels in the square for the match.
