I think it's dangerous to just look at raw stats. You also have to look at the intangibles. And sometimes a better rated player commands more respect from the opposition. Hence why you play MOL in the seniors rather than the boondocks.
As for Davis the averages aren't bad this year considering that one game he lasted only 20 odd secs. and he spends a lot of time in the forward line and on the bench. The goals radar has been down but from what I have observed he doesn't get many set shots that would be considered bread and butter. MOL and Hall (and why not?), tend to get most in the 'hot spot', because the players look for them first. Yet I doubt MOL could go as close as Davis et al from longer range and some of the boundary snaps.
I think Nick has just missed a lot of snaps which would make the ratio look a lot better than it currently is. Quite a few have been on his left.
I do think that he can take a contested mark too, he took several of those against Adelaide earlier this year. And he has been able to get off the ground to take marks in the past. Note when he got the ride against the Bombers in 2nd quarter return clash in Sydney last year.
But I also agree with Doctor J in that a lot of his appraisal still lies in the potential area. That he has class though can't be denied. He's a great kick, is light on his feet and is a good decision-maker. You only have to compare this with some of the frenetic and sloppy work that often occurs in the midfield to compare the difference.
And just a note on Phil Matera. I think he's been ordinary for the past couple of years except for a couple of good performances. But he is standing in front of the best midfield in the competition. Imagine if he was getting the delivery into the Swans forward line when he wasn't the focal point! Last year the Eagle players went to in all the time a la Mark Williams at the Hawks. Of course you will kick the odd goal.
I think we have all said something that comes back to bite us on the bum.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Nope, now we just get all the "I knew as soon as he did a bit of hard work, got his head together, got of the KFC he'd be champion." If he keeps working at this rate he'll have those dinky little hospital chip passess and misses from 30m out right in front perfected before the bye next year.
Love it..all you swarmy rwo instead of enjoying the win first thing you all do is dig up old threads to make yourself looks like heros. What pathetic arrogant sods.
RWO has some real good swarmy arsewipes!!
Don't understand what the point of bringing back these old threads is.

They are the only friends I have.
You must have been one of the one's writing Davis off. Bringing the posts back has more to do with him than it has with you, so don't let it bother you.

No its got to do with you and others here wanting to prove those who even dared to question you experts how wrong they are.
Check out the replies after this thread was revived along with other one about Nick.
Instead of being happy this morning you rather see division on here. Why?

I am happy. Great performance by nick, exciting "edge of the seat" win, Swans play in a PF next week etc etc. I also enjoy controversey and think RWO would be boring without it. Yep, I stir the pot but take all that is thrown back at me, only rarely get personal, and love going back over the old threads. I have no problem with that and have no problem with the fact that you do. I am also happy to argue until I am blue in the fingers, or have to go to soccer.
