He cost us serious momentum on a number of occasions on Sat - if this is obvious to many people on this board, why is not to Syd coaching staff? I recognise he brings something to the party in terms of the over-used "accountability" aspect but there has to be something else there as well.
So' obvious to many people on this board.. 'And that , my dear, is why YOU write on the internet and those with, perhaps, more knowledge make decisions.I am very pissed off by the continual rantings about some of OUR players without, usually, any real basis.Maybe some of you think you know better than the coach, the board, the selection committee and the media. Please, don't bother to answer that.

Open your eyes mate. The man is useless.

I use to think Matthews was OK but I think he has now become a liability. He made many stupid disposals on Sat night (stats dont lie - just ask NMW). Sydney should trade him at the end of this season and hope that a brief stint as rotating captain will incease his value.
Occupational hazards:
I don't eat animals since discovering this ability. I used to. But one day the lamb I was eating came through to me and ever since then I haven't been able to eat meat.
Originally posted by TheHood Truth be known, if we had kicked 2 more goals in that last quarter, then no one would be a culprit or to blame for anything.
Thats not true, perhaps if you want to be a blind nad wagoner who only cares if we win.. The point is we all want the team to peform well, and when someone is letting the team down it becomes an issue. Matthews is like a headless chook, no one knows which way hes going to turn or what hes going to do (including himself) - the day he puts the ball under his arm and does the funky chicken I will not be at all suprised.
funny enough, mathews keeps getting selected week in week outy , so mr roos and co. must be completely stupid or perhaps they know a bit more about this player and his contribution to the team than any of you pathetic critics.
i personally think ben has a lot of courage.
we had our chances to win against adelaide and didnt take them , you cant blame ben mathews for this. that is so pathetic

We most certainly can.
In a game where the difference was only 7 points, its natural to assume the player who had 47 clangers before half time must take some responsibility. Especially if he is "captaincy" material.

Perhaps they're waiting for the funky chicken thing to happen - I think we'd all like to see that!
Otherwise I agree - I blame ROK. Matthews was just his usual awful self, & we've overcome that hurdle plenty of times.
It fascinates me that so many people can see what a liability "ball up" Benny is too the side yet he is usually one of the first picked by the coaching committee each week.
I really don't rate him at all. Making him captain of the club (even though it was for 2 weeks) was a bigger insult to the club than drafting Nick Daffy or Andrew Bomford.
some of the learned critics seem to find 'clangers' when it suits there vicious and immature assault on our players.I will always recall the small minds savaging J.Bolton and Cressa but wiser heads thankfully prevailed as ,funny thing, coaching staff really don't read the negatives from RWO.
As far as Benny is concerned, who really cares? He is an honest and smart player with limited skills but is an essential part of the team and that is why he is picked as one of the best every week.Clangers?maybe you can show me those from last weeks game. I thought he was ok and even strong at the breaks and corrageous in marking and tackling. He never lets his player get the ball and, if he indecisive, it is usually because there aint no one leading. But the dills all see this on there micro sreens or from the wireless.
Get over you guys and start looking for some positives.
