Tonight on White Line Fever the camera man that shot the Hall/Maguire footage was asked why he had the camera on them at that time considering they were not involved in actual play. he said that he was expecting something to happen as they had been niggling eachother for awhile and when pushed he commented that Maguire ha something to Hall that may have been considered reportable about 3 mins prior.

I know this has nothing to do with the current charge and can't be taken into account but i thought it was interesting terms of the whole "Maguire was an innocent victim" scenario.

Yeah I was watching them pretty closely before the incident but didn't see Maguire do anything reportable. Maguire was all over Hall before the incident though and got what he deserved.

The Tribunal Guidelines have a section on grading of behind the play incidents, which states that

"It will be presumed that incidents behind the play...are more likely to be intentional or possibly reckless."

Putting aside the fact that Gaspar's has been assessed as being behind the play and negligent, this sentence suggests that getting the charge downgraded to negligent is unlikely to happen if they can't get it graded as in play.

Having now seen the Pickett illustration on the AFL's own DVD, I can't see how Hall's incident cannot be deemed to be in play. And while it looks dubious whether the Pickett one actually was, despite the DVD, in Hall's case the players were clearly jostling for position and trying to make space, especially if you look at the few seconds before the incident where Hall was clearly on the move, with his eyes up the ground.

Especially, IMO, as there is clearly an umpire going that way too, not far away.

                  Archer's support for Hall

Claims that he hit Tredrea harder than Hall hit Maguire - but was just about an inch lower in where he made impact.

                    You have to love Archer

"All over a little punch in the guts which you see every week ? I do that every week.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Archer is a true football champion that is open and honest about everything, he doesn't have to open his mouth for Hall, but does for the better of the game!

If his striking charge is somewhat attributable to the preassure exerted by two poor games etc.
How much damage is being done to his emotional energy levels by this ongoing meladrama?

Glass' chopped him up the last few occasions, will an emotionally drained Barry Hall do better?

The I hate Sydney hoards must be exstatic, the AFL don't need to suspend him just se him about for the whole week, remember how Dunkley played in 96.

This punch of Hall's is really showing people's true colours.

Acher is a champion, as is Voss on WLF last night. Both have 100% supported Baz.

Then you have got that worm Andrew Thompson who was so bitter about the incident. He kept saying 'I want Barry to play' and then go on a rant about how terrible the punch was, it really hurt McGuire etc.

Look it probably DID hurt him. By that time in the game, he was puffing harder than the G-Train. He was almost out on his feet in the previous contest where Hall got a free kick and kicked the goal. A slap to his midriff was the last straw, and he simply had no air to get up.

I still think that simply taking the players reaction to something, with no conclusive medical evidence to back it up is just not right. There was no broken bones, no bleeding, no screws and plates needed to fix the damage.

If you rabbit punch a bloke in the windpipe, or the bridge of the nose, or the jatz crackers, they will likely go down. That does mean its a "vicious" action or one that deserves sanction.

You can see in the video that he's even struggling to run back with Hall just before the punch.
