The big question that intrigues me is how did the Freo players hear it and not the umpires, or any of the Saints players.

No way St Kilda deserves 2 points in this game.

Its a disgraceful injustice as it is but imagine the uproar if that last kick had have gone through for a goal.

The AFL's credibility is on the line over this.

In 1909, St Kilda beat Geelong at Corio Oval by 1 point. In the match St Kilda played a suspended player. Geelong appealed and St Kilda forfeited the premiership points.

This decision ultimately gave St Kilda the 1909 wooden spoon.
According to ABC radio, there has been one occasion where the then VFL changed the result of a game, in StKilda's favour. Early last century, I can't remember which season they said, St Kilda played Melbourne, a Melbourne player kicked a point after the three quarter time siren, the game was played out to be a draw, but on appeal the point kicked by said Melbourne player was cancelled and St Kilda won the game by a point.

So a precedent has been set.

Shouldn't this game still be going on? If the umpires didn't hear the siren the one and only time it was sounded how can they signal that they heard it and call the game over?
                        Bring it on!

Sorry, I haven't seen any clear explanation of this... for how long after the siren did play actually continue?

Also, what were the commentators saying? I must catch a replay of this.

                          Shame for the Dockers.

The timekeeper said that he sounded the siren, when he thought the umpire was acknowledging it (must have been to do with the ball up), so looked down at the paperwork he is required to do and was diturbed about 10 seconds later with someone bashing on the window. He then sounded the siren again and the game was over.

All in All it was a monumental stuff up by the umpires.

What is the significance of this?

Fellow field umpire Hayden Kennedy starts running from the other end of the ground with a hand to an ear.
Does that mean he maybe heard it?
