There was then the off field culture that supposedly developed among a cohort of players post the flag.

I’ll trust our board to have the knowledge and vetting in place to test all that. And getting a premiership coach into the club is a plus.
Fair point on the off season drinking, no one deserves sacking for that....but there was talk of some illegal drug use by Goodwin himself that Bartlett understandably thought wasn't good for club culture.....and then he got nailed for basically being a whistleblower. I can't be certain of the truth of all this but I think Bartlett was treated appallingly by Melbourne as they picked sides and chose to defend their coach over their president.

However, as you say, our board would have knowledge (way better than mine!) and vetting in place and I certainly trust them on that. I totally agree with your last two sentences.

PS: I deleted my original post then reposted because I wasn't sure if it had been made public or not as it got flagged as "potential spam".....WTF? Is AI moderating new posts or do we still have humans in control here?

I worked with Glen (Bartlett) for a few years and can tell you he is of impeccable character.

Added Laidler from GWS to coach the forwards, Wayne Campbell from Gold Coast to head the Academy. Things are happening.

Why Laidler was useless before at the Swans and not much better if at all at GWS. Surely we can find someone better. Even Datolis dad would be better, 4 premierships in a row. I think Campbell seems a good choice. I think been at GWS and Suns.

Interesting to read Wayne Campbell will be reporting to John Longmire - Executive Director Club Performance. Is this a new role for Horse? I thought he was in a non football (corporate) role at the club?

Jeremy Laidler returns to the Swans as an assistant coach while highly respected Wayne Campbell has been appointed Head of the QBE Sydney Swans Academy.

Love the Campbell appointment. I know his brief is the Academy, but along with a couple of poor drafts, I think our development has been a bit off in recent years. Hopefully he can lend some expertise or a least a keen eye on that too.

I wasn’t particularly impressed by Laidler as our VFL coach, but that was before experiencing two seasons under Damian Whatshisname and one under McVeigh. In comparison, I have glowing memories of the Laidler years.

It’s hard to judge how well Laidler has coached the Giants’ forward line, given they are stacked with talent.

He played Cadman, Hogan and Riccardi as talls in the same fwd line plus Stringer..... He is ahead on whoever we had destroying our fwd line this year

To be fair I doubt anyone would look good coaching our VFL side
