The state of play as I see it currently:

    * Sub rule is scrapped from next year. Five on the bench.
    * Ladhams has signed a two-year extension. Very good. Two rucks in the same team should be considered.
    * Only uncontracted players are Lloyd and Buller.
    * If Lloyd signs, does he go on the rookie list?
    * Buller is likely to be at Collingwood next year. A second or third round pick?
    * Rosas is coming to Sydney if a satisfactory deal can be done. He will be an upgrade.
    * Curnow is interesting. How can Geelong end up with Curnow when they won't part with players and their picks are rubbish?
    * I've read nothing so far on Rowbottom and Gold Coast.
    * I'm expecting talks with Gold Coast will be productive: Rosas, potentially Rowbottom, various picks. A swap of picks will be needed as both clubs have Academy players to draft. Will the two clubs prepare a live pick trade on draft night as backup?

Flanders to Carlton and Pick 6
Rowy to GC and Pick 9
Curnow and Pick 16 to Swans

Carlton Give Curnow Get Flanders and 6
Suns Give Flanders and 6, 16. Get Rowy and 9
Swans give Rowy and 9, Get Curnow and 16

Heaps of Pick Swaps (Points for GC)

        Would still prefer JUH

Hoping Swans are just holding until AFL tear up his contract

Ladhams resigns the same day sub rule is scrapped. But as discussed all year I think they’ll be playing two rucks in the 23(!) next year. I’m a ladhams fan - he came good last year.

All the Curnow talk still a distraction that we’re one good KPD short. We can make do with our key KPFs

Suggest we look seriously at signing Jai Serong from Hawks, key position defender, has done extremely well in VFL each week, can't break into senior side and still early '20's. Would be great as our CHB. And cheap to get.

I think I have seen stuff suggesting we are.

Dean Cox was on record this year (AFL360) that he would play 2,rucks if the sub was removed with 5 on the interchange. No coincidence Ladhams re-signed after today's announcement. Hopefully it also means Green gets a few games to help blood him in with his development.

I'm no riuck whisperer, but hoping today's announcement with the removal of the bounce won't diminish Grundy's effectiveness.

Agree KPD is still a priority. Rather we try to prise out a Jake Lever with our hand. Curnow would improve us but not as much as a elite KPD imo.

Happy about Ladhams signing for a number of reasons. Firstly, he gives us much needed physicality. Secondly, he will keep Grundy fresher by sharing the ruck workload. Handy around goal as well. McInerney and Fort worked well in GF for Lions.

With all fit we can take on any team

guessing if Rowie moves on the data supporting is that Sheldrick and or Mills can take on his role ?

so for me that is a reallocation of dollars to our backline and or a Key Forward ?

ie Mills can move between backline and middle time depending on who we play and match ups

Sheldrick I’m not sold on but has improved and maybe the data collected at a granular level plus what is seen at training which we don’t tend to see often is solid ? Ie you know vs Rowie as first choice for shut down roles (and he does that as good as any)

the only reason I’m not sold on Sheldrick is his decision making is a little stilted as at 2025 but maybe the small things are happening that we don’t see when we watch a game with 48 players or so

These guys released a phantom draft this morning - has us taking Schubert and then matching a bid at 20 for King. Are we happy with this?

Schubert is a 198cn Forward/Ruck which Callum Twomey had him ranked at no. 10 in his recent rankings. Maybe it's best available, even though it's not a priority position.and somehow doubt we'll do so if we still have pick 9 sliding down to 12.

Callum Twomey said there is no indication at this stage that Rowbottom wants to go to GC or the Swans want to move him on, despite uncle BT's comments on the weekend.

Wondering if BT might've been referring to Lloyd? I recall GC were interested in him when his contract had previously expired. Probably not, but throwing it out there whilst he hasn't signed up yet.

His sister is at GC. Enough for uncle BT to stir the pot.
