This leaves total list at 38, leaving at least the 4 academy plyers king, chamberlain, kyle and carmichael as academy to = 42 and leaves us 2 more spots if we want. would love Blake Theragold to be available for us, he gives us future key defender when needed.

This was done so we have five draft picks at the ND. I'd suggest it's an insurance against something unusual happening on draft night like having a live pick in the late 20's or a bid on an unheralded academy player we'd like and a club bids very late so we'd need to have a live pick regardless of how far out it is.

Smart list management, I feel more comfortable now.

Be interesting to see the final comp wide table of picks after the last List Lodgement. Will be a must watch draft with the new points table in action - five years too late AFL!

I expect Sydney to take four list vacancies to the draft. Five is possible as others have pointed out.

Thredgold is rated at #30 in Twomey's October rankings. He would be a good choice to fill a hole.

I doubt Sydney will draft him because he will probably be be off the board by the time Sydney is on the clock with a live pick for the first time. I expect King and Kyle to be drafted before pick 30, which would remove most of the points-bearing picks.

I dont expect Kyle will go earlier than pick 30. King will probably go around the Pick 20 mark. I am just hoping out of King, Carmichael and Kyle, we can pick up at least 2 of them.

Bit line ball on Kyle (Twomey rates highly) as he is a pretty good talent

              fascinating draft

but we are stacked and ready

I am expecting them to get all three of them even if it means going into points deficit and carrying it over into 2026 draft.

I think a points deficit will be unlikely unless Sydney has to match bids on two players before pick 25.

By the time pick 10 is made, the Lions, Suns and Carlton may use up so many draft picks on matching bids on four players that Sydney's current pick 62 will be a points-bearing pick. It's currently eight picks adrift of the points.

Another factor that would make that pick end up bearing points is the number of live picks that clubs will take to the draft. That number is likely to be less than 60. To preserve such picks, I'm expecting a trade or two involving later points-bearing picks to happen prior to the list lodgement deadline. I believe Carlton is most likely to make such a trade.

now getting worried that cunow cost WILL COST us in drfat. Fox footy just released its final Power Ranking with King at 22, kyle 24 and Carmichael 29. No rankings for chamberlain. Thergold ranked 31
Hope we have enough points to match or else our acadeny kids will go elsewhere and if so WHY have an academy.

History has shown we should ignore all phantom's except Twomey. Let's be frank, King and Kyle have very little exposed form compared to a host of other players in the 20's. I doubt too many clubs would be taking a big leap of faith to bid on those two in the first round.

That we passed on Cochrane last draft, and weren't the Pies shocked!, tells others clubs bid on our academy players higher than we rate them and you'll be left holding the baby.

Most clubs with picks in that early 20's danger zone have their own priorities to worry about rather than bidding too high on King and Kyle. Our picks will come into 27 & 28 after the Queensland clubs match their three top five players so we can match mid 20's bids comfortably.

                      Worry not lwj

                        The above mentioned Fox rankings.

AFL Draft 2025: Top 50 players ranked by Fox Footy, Willem Duursma, Zeke Uwland, Daniel Annable, news, prospects, predictions https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/dra...c5e560e52999a3

After skimming through what they said about our academy prospects, I'd take some of what they said with a pinch of salt. That is, they suggest that GWS might go for Kyle in the first and that the Bulldogs are similarly keen on Carmichael. I checked what picks they have: GWS have pick 12 and the Bulldogs 14. I don't think either club will be going that high, for players who are generally ranked in the 25-35 range. Then for both clubs, their next picks are behind us in the 30s.

I would be very surprised if GWS and the Bulldogs were prepared to use picks 12 and 14 on either player. More likely is they could use their second round picks if either player was still available. BFG is correct in what he is saying about Cochrane.

Would love to see West Coast use 1 of their first 2 picks to call out all the GC, Brissy and Carlton Father Son and Academy

And may as well grab all 3 if that means a deficit next year, who cares, we have nothing early anyway

Code sports have King at 24, Carmichael 27, Kyle 37 Chamberlain among ‘others’
