I’m quite bullish on our list for 2026

Campbell or Seriong or Robert’s can slot back and take on Ollies role on wing or HBF rotation

hayward well we have two new forwards of immense craft.

Buller was not really an AFL key forward player in our current squad vs Curnow, Macca, Joel, Heeney etc rotating thru

I mean Curnow for Hayward (despite our love) is chalk and cheese re finals games and season proper

as paul Keating said in parliament many moons back

"in the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go,"

    im bullish

and so keen for next season with a very well balanced squad with serious strike power
"be tough, only when it gets tough"

This encompasses a whole range of things that are weighted against us - ability to attract players, coaches, draftees being willing to move away from home, travel load, not enjoying 18 comfortable "at home" games at the MCG, having to travel to "@@@@" venues, sponsorship opportunities, battling against go home factor, being based in the most expensive city in the country but having the same Salary Cap as everyone else, discounted real estate and farms etc etc. No surprise which clubs are pushing for a Mid Season Trade Period, the big Vic clubs who will be able to readily attract players from neighbouring clubs/suburbs but not so us who would be asking recruits mid year to move states and lifestyles.

What we have achieved in the past 20 years is impressive, so hats off to the club for making the decisions they have in the past. The club had seen Cox up very close for a number of years, he was considered widely in the AFL as the outstanding senior coach in waiting, I don't think it was necessary to go through a Powerpoint from a number of other assistant coaches before deciding Cox is the man.

Let's give the current regime some time to succeed before bagging them for decisions made recently.
Agree with everything you say BFG, though Brisbane has done very well and looks strong for years ahead.

We had to change personnel as we just couldn’t take it further with the group of 24-25. So getting Charlie as a marquee forward to change our structure is a positive move- let’s hope he can stay fit!
I think Coxy has learned a lot from his first season and he had a lot of bad luck with injuries to some of our key players. If we can draft our Academy kids I’ll feel optimistic for 2026 and beyond. Go Bloods!

I also agree with both BFG and you. Something had to change, we could not just continue on the same path as it clearly was not working. Brisbane have been fortunate with the father son additions, and astute recruiting.
Likewise with the addition of Curnow, Rosa, Serong and the 3 Academy prospects we are hopefully heading in the same direction.
Doing nothing was not an option

Glad to see we have had the guts to change things up, just 1 more thing outstanding in my opinion..... Cox need to select a tall side.

We can talk about injuries and a 5 man bench etc etc but all things going well, he has Curnow, Logan, Amartey, Ladhams on top of the ones he favoured last year. No point landing all this talent and not using it

            Also agree.

I also note that Brisbane's premierships came in Chris Fagan's 8th and 9th seasons as coach.

Great to see four 2025 season injury prone players players fronting up in their holidays to work on fitness. Curnow also at the club working during his holidays as we have noted earlier. From the Swans website -

"World class reconditioning specialist Bill Knowles has spent a fortnight at Sydney Swans HQ working with four players to build physical resilience, focus on injury prevention and to ready them for the 2026 AFL season

Joel Amartey, Tom Papley, Will Edwards and Logan McDonald trained with Knowles on a range of exercises, ranging from aquatic work to core strength and ankle balance."

He should not have been made coach without the appropriate look at other candidates. Not sure if he is a Coaches "a" hole.
Wow, you have every right to your opinion and to express it but here's mine.....that is a very overly emotional and questionable post indeed.

I hope Cox proves you wrong......and you can revisit your post and apologise.
