I may have missed it, but has anyone seen the Swans make an announcement of Logan going onto the long-term injury list? There's been some speculative pieces linking us to mid-season draft prospects, but I wasn't aware we had a spot - yet.

Inactive, rather than the old LTI list.

I haven’t. As recently as last week I read that the club wasn’t putting a line through McDonald’s season. Not yet.

Given this last operation, maybe Logan could return very late in the season, but it’s hard to tell at this stage. The club always takes a conservative approach and so we may be able to get something in the mid year draft to compensate. We sure need to pick up some fresh talent- from memory I think we got Hanily in a mid draft but don’t recall anyone else.

McAndrew. Buller and Arnold. And before them, a skinny medium forward (Hayward style?) who impressed early but didn't really progress (or put on much size) but who many would have liked to have kept for another year but who doesn't seem to be on the MSD radar this year so can't have been "killing it" since we delisted him 18 months ago and whose name has irritatingly escaped me for the time being.

            Hugo Hall-Kahan?

If we take anyone, I wonder if we might be interested in former player Marc Sheather? He's now on the Giants VFL list and I thought he looked good when we played them recently.

That be him. Thank you. I couldn't even recall enough of his name to try and Google for the rest. I vaguely recalled he had an "upper class" first name but I had Cecil or Cedric in my head.

It seems like we don't have room for an MSD pick. Not unless we make a call on McDonald. I quite fancy the idea of redrafting Sheather. I first saw him at U16 level, liked him at U18 level, where he was overshadowed by Errol'n'Braedon. And thought he had a solid first year with us. It was a bit of a bummer that an injury prevented him progressing. I remember reading an article where he relayed telling his teachers at school that he was going to be a Swans player when he grew up, and being scoffed at. Even though he didn't (or hasn't yet) sustained a career with the Swans, I was happy that he at least go to make his senior debut. So yes, he is - and always will be - a Swans player.

Sentiment aside, he'd be a handy type of player to have on our list to fill holes. Can play as a pressure or mid-sized marking forward, or move into other roles in a similar fashion to Jordon. A potential Mr Fixit.

I've just remembered there were two other MSD picks before HHK. An even skinnier small half-forward (Cody something) and a big, awkward, lumpy ruckman in Michael "grassy" Knoll. At least, I think his first name was Michael. (And whatever it was, it probably still is.)

I think someone who's not going to play seniors this year needs a season long injury so we can have a dip at the MSD. Tom Williamson is a local here and is tearing it up in the Wimmera League - captain and coach of the premiers Ararat over the last two years. Plus league B&F. We know he can play at AFL level because he played nearly 50 games with Carlton before retiring due to mental issues. Last year he was ranked by the Weekly Times as the best player in country footy. He's nominated for the draft, so he's obviously ready for another go. The other one and of key position size is Tom and Paddy McCartin's brother who's doing well with Geelong ressies. It would be criminal if he played for someone else, when we've got blokes on our list who will never make it.

So, they must have liked what they were seeing from Edwards before his injury.

He, Cleary and Andrews extended to end of 2027.

Caiden Cleary, Will Edwards and Riak Andrews have extended their contracts with the club until 2027.

Mills should extend for a year without additional money

This is not a shot at you - but I'm getting pretty tired of the anti-Mills crusade that seems to be underway at the moment. Not against saying he has to work hard to regain faith after a rough couple of years, but a lot of people willing to throw him on the bonfire very quickly and make him the blame game for all our woes.

Good news. I'd forgotten about Riak for a moment. I seem to recall hearing he was going ok in the preseason until the injury. He was two weeks away in last week's injury report, so hopefully we'll see him soon.

Unfortunate typo in the club article - there is no 's' in the surname Andrew.

I've been impressed with Cleary's pressure amd intensity. Still working on the decision making and finish, but I'm confident he'll work it out.

a bit tongue in cheek but most of the commentary in Born out of frustration..... no doubt none more than his own

The finishing is frustrating but he's getting good looks at goals. How many behinds was it that Jetta kicked before his first goal? 19 was it? Cleary just got the first goal out of the way early and is now chasing the consecutive behinds club record.
