I’ve got a mate who’s a Geelong fan who lives down there who laughs at what they get away with. He’s good enough friends with two Geelong players to play golf with them once a month.

He has to pay membership where they play. Guess what his playing partners pay?

Seven of the wives/partners have free Ford cars because they’re ‘influencers’. Sure …

The resort down the coast where they often go for a quick getaway that runs an open tab that’s never called in.

The other one. He says the property discount stuff is well known. But Bendigo Bank is a major sponsor. Funny the interest rates a few players get.

It’s a total rort. And the AFL is too weak to dig in hard enough to deal with it properly.

Im know the interest rate thing has been around for at least 20yrs, it just didn't matter for 5 yrs when rates where near zero.

Had mates with loans at 4% when average was 7%

Yes well, funny how a few Cats still have rates at 0.25%.

Pretty obvious to me- a top forward like Charlie Curnow and we’re set. Let’s not play by the rules as nobody else does. And when we did, we got pinged so let’s just stick it right up them!

How do we land a big target and keep our Academy?

Trade next years picks and Sheldrick ?

I’d say we need a intercepting defender as well if we can find one

I'd say if we recruit a fwd, Logan goes back or if we recruit a defender Logan stays fwd

Logan and Amartey have both kicked just under and just over 40goal seasons with a midfield that kicks more than any

I don't think we are that broken up fwd with everyone Healthy

”Everyone healthy” is a question mark as both Amartey and now possibly Logan are injury prone and likely to miss quite a few games. Amartey has soft tissue problems that usually need 3-4 weeks. Logan has been unlucky with his current injury but there’s no telling how he will respond in the future. That’s why we need another key forward.

We have McLean and Francis at present. I like McLean and he helps out in the ruck but he tends to not hold on to marks he should be able to take. A good player but you wouldn’t say top tier at this stage. Francis is quite useful at both ends as he has shown, but maybe not week in week out, but has game intelligence. Pistol Pete is average, though I don’t want to be unkind! Then we have Buller, who hasn’t been given a chance as yet.

So there’s a major weakness in our list and I don’t think we can challenge until it’s addressed. How we do it is up to our management.

The 3 options being talked about are

Curnow who had more time off injured than Logan at the same point of his career and Logan has kicked more goals at the same period

JUH is in the middle of a self inflicted year off, only slightly ahead of Logan for goals

Ben King did a knee and had a year off, kicked slightly more goals than Logan while being the only option fwd

All would cost a packet in $$$ and captial

If we are talking about any others they are at least as big a leap of faith than what we currently have

Logan has done fine as a fwd when you consider he has never been our main focus in the F50

Josh Treacy is the next best thing and has kicked 97goals in 68 games, Logan is 93goals in 70 while never being the main target

Some good points. I think Logan has the ability but he has the Sammy Reid problem. Does not have the body to support his level of ability. Another forward is a must.

I think we under-estimate how well Logan did in his first four years. The numbers above prove that, in a relative sense of the trajectory KPFs take.

He might never be the big bopper you want down there, but he has elite running capacity, is a super field kick and pretty good shot at goal, has excellent ground skills, and knows how and when to lead.

He should be a locked and loaded 50 goal a year player for the rest of his career, which is pretty damn exceptional.

I think the issue is less Logan (subject to full recovery from injury) but who you partner him with.
