Surely not, for all the above reasons. We have to build for the future as well as looking for opportunities for 2026-7. If Curnow wants out of Carlton we must explore all options to get him without giving too much away. Only aim at bringing in elite talent as that’s the recipe for winning flags. We showed in our last 2 GF’s that being good is simply not enough- you need A graders in key positions and a sprinkling of talent all over the team. Currently we have only McCartin who is close to an A grader- Melican, Logan and Amartey are B+ at this stage. Our other A graders are in midfield and ruck: Brodie, Errol, Chad and Isaac. Paps could be included but he’s missed a lot of games. The Lizard is A grade but he’s most suited on the wing rather than as a key defender. The others are good as they’ve shown but not quite good enough to win a flag, and that should be our ambition. Making finals is great but let’s face it, we want to be premiers and not bridesmaids. So it’s over to our list managers and coaching staff- that’s their job, and whilst they’ve been ok, they’ve missed out on the chocolates.

I follow Liverpool in the EPL. We won the league this year and then bought 2 world class players ( admittedly for record fees, so the situation is different) plus 3 elite talents. And there are only 11 in a team, though we are in 4 competitions so you need a strong squad to cover for injuries and fatigue. The point I want to make is that the Swans Mamagement needs to show more ambition- not leave it to Geelong, Collingwood, Brisbane and Hawthorn!

it’s no coincidence that these 4 are playing in the PF next week. They are clearly the best teams this year and their management and coaching staff have worked hard over the last few years to give themselves a decent crack at the flag. Hawthorn were easy beats at the start of last seasons but they recruited well and their young players are a great mixture of talls and smalls, enabling them to play long if needed or congested, depending on their opponent. It’s frustrating that we get out marked in most games yet we keep playing long- some blame Cox and our coaching but surely the players have enough between their ears to know that if you keep bombing up to the forward line when the opposition mark the ball time and again, you need to find alternatives!! It’s not xxx@@ng rocket science!

Of the last 4, everyone of them is chasing Free Agents as opposed to moving players out, we may be handicapped due to being in Sydney but Brisbane turned themselves into a destination club in a non football state.

Like us they get helped thru the Draft, we should focus on our Academy selections due to a low flight risk.

I think we have more elite talent than any of the last 4, if you were recruiting for Tassie, put our team up against any of the final 4 and you would pick more players from Sydney than any of the others (age being a consideration)

We have the talent, we need to use it properly, compliment it properly and move on from players that arent getting us any better like Geelong and Brissy do.

Look at Buller, he is best 22 going into next year, give him his spot, make the others shift him

        Give a Green a crack

Agreed- you could also add Snell and Edwards (when fit) to the above 2 and hopefully a couple more! We need to be more adventurous for sure.

Free Agency is badly distorting the competition. Top teams just keep double dipping when getting FA for free. And people complain about our academies!

Trade period starts in three weeks

            ND is in nine weeks

            The clock is ticking

I think the FA rules a pretty clear.... you can bring in whoever you want no matter where you finish on the ladder as long as your not Sydney

Not picking a fight but it has to be said, Ladhams has never consistently played well in the firsts when he's had the chance but yes, it could be argued he hasn't been given a decent run at it.

However, I remain doubtful he's really up to it.....in a winning GF's sense.

In H & A games though, he's better than having McLean or Amartey as the back up for Grundy.

He is the best option we have and of course I'm talking about what it allows our fwds to do.

Mclean can be very good if left fwd

I agree with all of that.

Mentioned here before: Malcolm Rosas jnr is seeking a trade. Sydney and Richmond are two clubs who are interested.

I know it’s a not a high priority but boy I’d love Sam Flanders ( I believe I read somewhere we were into him in his draft year).

As long as it doesn’t cost us much, he would add some depth I guess

Anyone got any goss on who we might look ar in the draft with our first pick? Looks like Max King might slide beyond that (which is a massive win for us!)

maybe we could do a deal with both carlton and essendon. Curnow ro us for our first pick (currently 9) plus maybe a player not sure who, its said that voss wants speed so maybe MciInerney, Blues give this to Dons for merrett also + a player maybe from us not sure. This will allow dons to say to Hawks stuff u for this practice of going after contracted players like they have done with WC as well. The AFL should also come down hard on Hawks for tis blatant contempt of the rules.

I know both Changkuoth Jiath and Judd McVee are not KPD sized defenders. but should we be also in the mix for either as potential long term replacements for Rampe, Lloyd & Cunningham?

Do we have sufficient depth in this area of our defence?
Wicks has been a revelation. Bice shows promise. Roberts form had dipped, but hoping it's only temporary.

Thee also appears to be a desire to move a fully fit Mills back into the midfield.
