The prospect of losing Buller suggests something askew with our approach to list management. If this year showed anything, it’s that we lack depth and he’s the sort of player we need to keep. Nor should it be that hard, as his demands would hardly be crippling. A two year deal on average wages would easily get it done, or at least normally.

And for those arguing he’s leaving for opportunity given the prospect of Curnow arriving, I doubt it. Mainly because I can’t see a circumstance in which Carlton let him leave when the coach is fighting for his career next year.Comment

I believe Buller is looking at leaving because when we have a full list to pick from he is not in our best 22 and wants to play more regular senior footy which is probably fair. The prospect of losing Buller suggests something askew with our approach to list management. not sure how buller belevies he is not in our best 22 even with McDonald, and Amerty fully fit. In my estimation a better player than Amarty. Surely we can up the offer it there is one to be better tahn Pies. Who at the Swans decides these things. Hope its not Cox alone cause he would prefer smaller forwards and disregards our genuine needs. Like Key defenders which is a postion Buller has played in as well as fwd ,Comment

I don't understand why this draft tampering wasn't reported to the AFL. Weddle should have received a hefty suspension. On tonight's Midweek Tackle, John Ralph confirmed that we and GWS were very keen on Josh Weddle but he told both clubs he would request a trade to Melbourne (city not the Demons) if we drafted him. It's who we would have used our Dawson trade pick on if we weren't warned off. This type of draftee behaviour is why the northern academies are likely safe from AFL watering them down."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

So we miss out on Curnow and lose Buller. Not a great start to our current trading period.not sure how buller belevies he is not in our best 22 even with McDonald, and Amerty fully fit. Definitely seems to be shaping up as a grim trade period. Stunned we haven’t been linked to a KPD yet. Buller shaping up to be a serviceable KPF we probably should be keeping. Curnow who we showed interest in has us at plan C. Fingers crossed we hear something positive soon.Comment

Here is the article including Buller set for the Pies:
Now that Curnow has said he prefers Geelong and then Gold Coast, I would rather we forget about chasing him and concentrate on what we have. Amartey and MacDonald are capable and Buller shows promise and If we can recruit Max King, our forward woes might be over.

I’ve posted on the Weddle thing extensively before. The managers and by extension players aren’t stupid. Asked if he’d be drafted by the Swans, he says yes. Asked about homesickness, he says absolutely - I’d struggle with being away from home. I’d likely struggle to commit long term. And ‘just to be fair’, I should let you know id probably seek a trade in a year.

I’m not defending him - to the contrary. But I know the Swans walked away from their interview with him knowing that drafting him was pointless and pinging him to the AFL, just as fruitless. Bailey Smith was probably the prior example of a player who made it clear he’d refuse to leave Melbourne. Chad Wingard, ironicallly, wouldn’t leave SA and Cyril wouldn’t leave Melbourne. (Tanner Bruhn is another example but given what’s going on there, let’s leave that alone).

Someone else posted earlier that you’d think it’d give the AFL a reason to leave the Northern Academies alone. But we’re taking the AFL here.Comment

He looked this year to be a player like Buddy (god bless him) in his last year - that extra nanosecond of leg speed and anticipation needed to succeed against the best has gone. And once it goes, it goes. Unless there was an underlying injury, far from convinced. A superb player at his peak, but time
 may be done with himComment

I think Buller and Ladhams are both gone for opportunity. Hard to argue with them, it won't be due to dollars.not sure how buller belevies he is not in our best 22 even with McDonald, and Amerty fully fit. In my estimation a better player than Amarty. Like ive said 1000x, how our MC select a team next year particularly fwd, is our biggest concern

As far as Curnow, I think we are more likely to be chasing JUH, huge risk potentially big reward.

It just seems to me, based on Buller and extending Amartey, we have something already done and I think that could only be for JUHComment

As I've said before; Buller looks a prime candidate for CHB. He appears to have a good tank and gets to contests. We should do what we have to do to keep him. 200cms ready made key position players are hard to come by. Forget Curnow as he's a one trick pony and once the ball hits the ground he doesn't contest. He's 29 next season and missed the last 4 games through injury. He signed a long term contract to the end of 2029, and is now sooking and wants out. He doesn't look like a club man to me. I heard Isaac Heeney on SEN this morning he sounded very much like we need to support the Academy, so we shouldn't be wasting picks on a Curnow trade.Comment
