I'd much rather get Aleer than Curnow. Curnow costs too much and I think we can make do with the KPFs we have. AFL is no longer a power KPF game - especially when it comes finals. Theyre a distraction and money sink. It's about star intercept defenders, high pressure small forwards and goal kicking midfielders. KPFs just need to provide structure and compete
Serong and Aleer don't creat surplus, they are both needs.

They cover Rampe, Lloyd and release Blakey.

Curnow creates surplus and makes us play guys in the team in roles they shouldnt play.

Hate too mention again we have a match committee that doesn't like to play tall and a current squad with no less than 6 talls Ruck or Fwd without Curnow

Grundy, Ladhams, Mclean, Logan, Amartey, Green
5 of them are best 23, Green should be next year.

Stop the Curnow chase, go after the others

    If I was ruthless
    Extend Amartey, trade Mclean
Consider Trading some of Corey, Cleary, Rowy, Hannily

Carlton have rejected Geelong's offer of 3 x1st round picks (which will all likely slip to the 20's ). Media consensus we are the box seat if Charlie were to move. Rowbottom now being speculated as part of trade. No one really knows.

Spot on! The other question I have is do we actually any list spots left ?
I wish they would free Blakey up, Leek and Serong would help support us in this area as you pointed out BUT It’s never been evident the match committee have a desire to make this happen which is perplexing to me

I think of it this way - KPFs help you get through games in H&A, but the last few years make clear you need a good fleet of small and medium forwards to get through the pace and chaos and pressure packed defence of finals. Which is why I'm not completely opposed to chasing Curnow at the right price, but I wouldn't be placing Wilbur on the table. He hasn't covered himself in glory in our two GF defeats, but I hardly think of the forwards as the ones to blame for those results - rather than bullied and sullen midfields.

Mate i think we do given an extra secured would give us a little more flexibility in the conversations with Carlton

not much but a little.........and it clears that extra juggle and allows us to really sharpen our focus on Curnow and or as we all know there might be a smokey that we havent thought as supporterss

Now that could get interesting !

                      Nervous times

A surplus player and as long as we get academy and I'll be happy

                      Don't do anything stupid Keane

I won't be happy if we give up 2 first round picks and miss out on our Academy boys. Why plough heaps of cash into the Academy, appoint Wayne Campbell in charge of the Academy, only to forsake 2 or 3 potentially very good players, for short term gain on a player who has a degenerating knee. And lets not forget that with Tassie coming into the comp and the concessions they will get, means the draft will be turned upside down. We must always be bringing in youth. Do we want kids in NSW looking unfavourably at us because they could very well end up interstate, if the cards we are holding are not aces but 2's.

Rowy probably looking at Hewett and thinking a move would be best for him

Don't care about picks, just use surplus players and have enough to get our Academy kids

Fair offer reported by the Cats for Curnow

Probably shows how important a player like Curnow is to a team in a serious window like the Cats and lets be honest us if we get players back on the field. Out injuries in 2025 were a massive factor in low wins.

i do think between Gus and Mills and maybe even Lloyd we have tried to cover any loss of a middle grunt player leaving in a trade ie Rowbottom being a key piece in a trade or a player like him

a player like Rowie is extremely compelling in a trade to help an opposition team mid table to bolster their way back into being competitive

especially if a key tall wants to leave an opposition team and they redirect to an immediate impact mid like Rowie who not only shuts down opposing key mids but is also a very good commuincator

yet we genuinely have that covered with Mills or Lloyd rolling thru our mids

                            very interesting times

nothing like losses or gains to spike nervous systems

surely not what sam edmund is reporting. Rowie + our first pisck +furtues ist rder. There goes any oportunity we have with acaseny boys If we do that Keane must be on something. FORGET curnow he is a merceniary get back to serong and our academy boys.

Expect we'll get some later picks back for the Curnow deal if it goes through, plus whatever scraps we get for Buller.
