I sincerely hope that Rowbottom is not on the table. He is a heart and soul type member of the team. I think it would be counterproductive to move him on to help bring in a 29 year old who has already stated he doesn’t want to play for us and went five weeks goalless when he came back from extended injury this season. Rowbottom is the closest thing this team has to a Brett Kirk back in the day.
My opinion is objective truth in its purest form

Fully agree. Up till now I've been undecided about whether or not I want Curnow to become a Swan. The longer time goes on, however, one thing is becoming clear. None of the players that Carlton would be hoping to get from us want to leave us! I, too, am worried that moving someone on will hurt team morale and I'm not sure that Curnow is good enough to justify taking that risk.

I tend to be torn between the point people are making re morale and an attachment to both Wilbur and Rowie, and an admiration for Cox’s determination after a year in the chair to make some calls that he believes give us a shot at a flag.

We’ve got a two year window for now between Isaac being a top five player in the comp, Mills and Paps and Grundy at their prime age, an excellent younger group and Warner signed. After 2027 we might still be rocking but no guarantees.

I think the issue still is, even if we land Curnow, who is playing tall down back?

What are we doing with all out talls ?
          Offer up Mclean ?

They need to shift their focus if Carlton drag it on walk away

This is probably the case with Geelong as well. Geelong offered three first-round picks and the offer was rejected. I doubt anyone wants to leave the Cats either.

The way I see it, the offer could be pick 11, 2026 first-round pick and Florent, in exchange for Curnow and later points-bearing picks in this year's draft. Maybe one later 2027 pick as well but no more.

If the offer is rejected, take pick 11 to the draft and recruit best available tall player, or split the pick for points.

Buller to Collingwood for their second-round pick should give enough points.

With Ollie Florent told to look elsewhere I believe he will be part of the Curnow deal -Ollie Florent plus one tail - either Hayward, Mclean or Logan. it may be slightly unders, like our Dawson deal was, but if you have a team member who does not want to play for you next year, what do you do?

No way should we consider trading Logan at 22 years of age. No problem with Haywood or McLean at 28 years old next season. Hayward has already acknowledged that he may be part of the trade to Carlton

Edwards is the one tall I’d love to see be given a shot think he’s about 197cm and has a cannon of a boot.

                        ??????
That doesn’t affect the academy picks. King is predicted to slide until the mid twenties according to the draft pundits, so we would not have to use a first round pick for him. Keep in mind that we will have at least two second round picks taking into account the Buller move to Collingwood.
The other academy kids will likely slip later in the draft or even the rookie draft in some cases. There is no point bidding for them until another club makes a bid.

Nervous about the whole Curnow situation and nervous we are going to not match academy bids, Exhibit A - Joel Cochran last year not matched even at pick 47
The club clearly did not believe that Cochran was worth matching the bid, and his form in Collingwood’s VFL team last season was less than impressive. The club have a pre determined price (points) they are willing to pay for academy players and have stated that if a rival club makes an over valuation on a player they will walk away from it, and this should always be the policy.

Never too confident of an untried multi year Swanny, probably more chance he heads to Tassie VFL

I agree with you to a point, but that is not forsaking the Academy. None of the current Academy players warrant a first round pick. King will likely be in the mid twenties, and the others later on and or via the rookie draft

Where are people getting this fantasy that Collingwood will give a second rounder for Buller? There are better credentialled players already traded this year for round 3 picks or worse.
