Reminded me very much, of little brother trying to provoke big brother into whacking them, so that they could go running to mummy for a bit of attention.Comment

Yes, even though McNamara seems to have slipped out of the conversation, I really hope that he gets a rookie spot. He showed a surprising amount of forward craft in the VFL, despite playing mainly as a defender for the academy, with the occasional spell in the midfield. I actually think that he could be converted into a decent big bodied mid.Comment

I think the animosity between the Giants and the Swans stems from the fact that we recruited Franklin and they had no idea. I bumped into SOS who was with the Giants recruiting team back then, and he genuinely said the Giants were SHOCKED - furthermore he said they were seething!
After all is said and done, they haven't forgotten. Even the bid on Harry Rowston made them ark up a bit more. So I suspect they may have a score to settle, however I don't think that they would have bid if they didn't want Kyle anyway.
For what its worth, I am satisfied with the recruitment team. We all have to make calls and some turn out better than others. The recruitment team would have been well aware of Carmichael's attributes and would have made a considered decision. Its not like they didn't know, having seen the kid up close for the last 2 years. Furthermore, they probably didn't want to go into deficit, as they know what is coming through the academy next year.
Hopefully we get King and Roberts-Thompson in the draft and Chamberlain slips through to the rookie draft.
At least the Swans play fair.. not like the others.Comment

Giants, on the other hand, just ditch their academy players after a few years (or don't try too hard to keep them). Matt Kennedy, Jack Steele, Jacob Hopper, Isaac Cumming, Harry Perryman, Matt Flynn. We've not taken as many academy prospects as the Giants over the last decade or so, but the ones we have we have held onto (or delisted - they've not gone to other clubs). As another aside, I noticed that GWS put out an X-cretion last night, trying to troll us about Carmichael going to the Bulldogs. Can't be bothered finding it and linking to it, but I think their social media people have been doing that sort of childish crap for a while now. I don't know if we ever bother to reply?Comment

Sydney currently has picks 35, 41 and 53 that bear points. The total is 586 points, which is higher than the full value of pick 26."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

I quite like that pick. Seems to have pace and skills. Probably ensures that St Kilda bid on King.Comment

Plays with serious power and explosion. Has the potential to be a steal. If he’s half as good as his brother, who just needs to get on the park, he’ll be a beauty.Comment
