    SCG to get a makeover

They've finally agreed to build a stand to replace the Walters stand and the hill. It means moving the scoreboard and adding an extra one as well. Hopefully they will use it as an opportunity to fix up the concourse area around to the CS and with a new stand, it might allow a better atmopshere to be created around that area.

Will be interesting to see how they handle crowd flows considering so many people take forever to get out around in front of the Hill though...

Hopefully they will make it 10 metres longer too.

The historic scoreboard will be moved to the Paddington Street entrance, and new scoreboards will be installed at the middle of the field on the Dally Messenger and Brewongle stands.
The Brewongle? I guess they mean on the roof? Unless they mean the video screen on the Messenger and just a small scores only thing on the Brewongle?

It's a lot of money for just 2800 extra seats.

Its not just about extra seating, its about putting in covered seating, better facilities etc

Anyone who has sat on the Hill in the past couple of years for the cricket will know this is definitely money well spent!

I wonder what this will do for the SCG capacity while the new stand is beng built and wheteher this will force them to play more games at Tel$tra next year - hopefully not!

The new stand should extend from the Hill right around to the Members.

The O'Reilly, Messenger, Bradman and Noble are all in desperate need of an upgrade.

Heard a guy from the trust on radio, apparently re-building the original scoreboard (heritage listed) brick by brick in the lane behind Aussie, and new electronic scoreboards at DougWalters and Brewongle. Also looking for corporate investment to fix Noble and Bradman, if they get enough he said they would fully rebuild them both. Sounds like they're not too keen to go much higher than existing, so capacity increase wouldn't be high on the priority list.
I hear not what you say, for the thunder of who you are.

An opportunity lost methinks to look at the ground as a whole rather than just bit by bit.

And you can almost guarantee to see 6 or so games at Telstra next year given capacity is likely to be down lower than 30K.

While they're at it they should bulldoze the MA Noble and Bradman Stands too and rebuild them (throw the Messenger Stand in as well). Anyone who has had to sit in the back half of the MA Noble or Bradman and has had to watch the game around the support columns would know what I was talking about.

Or better still, make Telstra Stadium our new home ground for ALL games.

That would mean I have to travel more than 10km.

                            Sigh . . . If only it wasn't such a soulless dump!

Rodney Cavalier said. "It will have dining rooms and all the modern comforts expected these days." Modern comforts? I'd be a damn sight more comfortable if rather than putting in a dining room for the corporates, they put a little extra legroom into the general publics seating. Which to be honest is another strika against Telstra.

They should bulldoze all the stands except for the Brewongle/Churchill. That way I can enjoy my chardonnay and canapes in peace without having that mexican waving rabble around me. Go swannies, bully bully chin chin!
