For TV reasons they have played one on Friday night and one on Saturday for the past two years.

In 2003 they had Saturday day and night.

In 2004 they had Friday night and Saturday night.

I think it was viewed as too much of a disadvantage for the team playing a day later (and I think it may have cost Brisbane the flag that year).

In 2005 they decided to have Friday night (for the winner of the QF 1st v 4th) and Saturday daytime (for the winner of the QF 2nd v 3rd).

I assume they will stick with that this year.

All our 2005 finals bar the GF were played on Friday night. Now that didn't end up too bad did it?

No - but we lost one of those games and were ordinary for 3 quarters in another.

I would imagine that TV ratings will have a large say in scheduling - so I'd expect that we will play Fri night with the game at AAMI on Sat afternoon.

As for ground availability - the NRL has usually had their Sat night prelim at Aussie Stadium and Sun arvo prelim at Telstra. So the only issue would be if the AFL decided we would play Saturday.

Why not Sat arvo for us and Sat night at AAMI?

Friday night is very inconvenient for me.

They say they'll be selling the tix next Wed so I guess they will have decided by then.

Because if West Coast win in Adelaide, they can't fly back to Perth until the Sunday, so doesn't help the recovery for them.

Friday night and Sat afternoon is the new standard for Prelims.

I thought we'd get Saturday night. If it's verse Fremantle it'll be at SCG or Melbourne at TS.

If TS is available it will be at TS, regardless of opposition. There is n agreement to hold finals at TS, the only reason last year's game v Geelong was at the SCG was that TS was unavailable due to an NRL game.

Not to mention fact that tickets go on sale this Wednesday, before we know who our opponent will be.

Yeah - How can they sell the tickets before they are sure of the venue or the opponent??

They will know the time of the game before Wednesday, which allows the AFL to lock in the venue. Our opponent is irrelevant.

They did that in 2003 as well. They just kept an allocation of tickets for Brisbane supporters but started selling them before the Semi-Final weekend.

I wonder where the standard seats will be? Probably Level 6 in the nosebleeds
How many tickets can you buy per card? I already had people at work asking me last week to buy tickets for them.
This is what the site says:

Members may be able to purchase more than one (1) ticket per member
I still think it will be held on the Friday night. We''ll have to wait and see later this evening. Just think of the nervous energy while at work on that Friday.
