Hey, I will be contacting the club and stadium security about it via email to try and get clearance to get it in officially. Stadium security were kind of obtrusive and arbitrary in relation to the getting the big flagpoles in at the Brisbane match, so I want to be honest & open about things. Hey, I'm not trying to smuggle in explosives or anything. I'm just trying to do my best at unifying a crowd of 70000 whilst saving my ever-brittle voice at the same time.

I have said megaphone sitting on my bed at the moment. So it is all systems go re giving it a whirl.

I am going to try and start up simple futbol-style songs. Songs we sing every week in the Cheer Squad such as "Ole Ole Ole Ole Syd-neee, Syd-neeee". Hopefuly we can get the whole end joining in so that it starts becoming a part of Swans supporting kulcha.

You can never have too much kulcha I think.

People like that should seriously consider getting over it. The club has been in Sydney for 25 years now.

These issues were dealt with 10-15 years ago & should be long long long in the past along with the drop kick & coats for goal umpires.

If Ando's dad who was involved with Keep South at South & Bobby Skilton can embrace the club as Sydney these days, it shouldn't be too hard to let bygones be bygones and help cheer our great team towards another premiership surely.

I think that the KISS principle is best for this game. The long SYYYYYDDDNNNEEEYYY chant is probably the easiest to get going. I won't be in the cheer squad this week but will do my best from sect 138 to get people going.

Today in the melb papers it had a article with peter bell saying us sydney people dont make half as much noise as the freo fans so it wont be that intimidating for them to play us.

Whislt I agree with what you are saying in principle JF, you have to remember that it takes people different lengths of time to deal with emotional crises, and yes the relocation of the Swans to Sydney was an emotional crisis for those of us who were SMFC supporters and members.

For instance, do you tell the WW2 POW's to get over how they feel about the Japanese? Do you tell someone who has lost a child to simply get over it? Do you tell someone who has a long term relationship to simply get over it? No you don't, you allow them to work through it at their own pace. It took me 20 years to properly deal with the death of my Father when I was 4 yo. I'm not looking for sympathy, or supporting those who are still bitter about the Swans relocating, all I'm saying is that it will take different people differing lengths of time to deal with what happened, and some it may take more than 25 years (as we have seen).

Again, as I said earlier, I agree with the thrust of your comments, but how long we take to deal with different emotional things is a personal thing, and telling someone to get over it, certainly isn't helpful.

I can't stand how quiet it is at Sydney games. Even the Brisbane crowd make more noise than we do.

Where I sit, if you yell and scream, the people in front of you get whiplash turning around to see what the noise is all about!! One girl at TS (drinking chardy and wearing stillettos .... can't understand why some women wear stillettos to the footy!!), turned around to me and said "do you think you can keep it down". I went feral on her, stayed quiet for approximately 30 seconds, then leaned in real close and started up again.

I don't pay a HUGE amount of money every year to sit and quietly watch a game. I'm passionate. I'm there to yell and scream and help push the team forward. Even if we're 50 in front ... you'll hear me yelling "raise the percentage"!

At a normal H&A game in Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth, Hobart or Darwin, the noise is quite deafening ... through the TV.

Maybe Barry should add another lesson at the Barry Hall Hall ... "how the chardy set can turn feral for three hours in ten easy steps!!".

Its not my experience that Sydney based supporters are any quieter than in Melbourne or Adelaide. I cant comment on Perth or Brisbane as I havent been there for a game yet. I gues sit must depend on where you sit in Sydney. I am in no doubt at all that there will be a huge amunt of noise on Friday night.

Howsabout some perspective? Whilst I agree with your statement that people take different times to cope emotionally, let's not use the death of a loved one or the trauma of POW's as a valid analogy when comparing a sporting team moving their home ground! Or merging, or even disbanding for that matter. If you're not over it in 10yrs - maximum - then you have problems.

Maybe such supporters should be isolated in a bay of their own so they can sip their chards in peace. The club could even charge them lots more for "peace and quiet", thus giving the Swans more money

Ok so I went to the extreme, but the sentiment is still the same, you can't put time limits on peoples emotions and limit the time it takes for different people to deal with the emotional things that happen in life.

For example, if you have an unreasonable fear of dogs, and I say "get over it", it is of no help at all, but is more likely to bring resentment against me into the equation, which in turn makes the problem even worse.

Personally I got over The Swans relocation many years ago, but for some people it was like the death of an old friend, in much the same way people view the deaths of Peter Brock or Steve Irwin as the death of a close friend. Time will heal the sadness that people feel, as it has done in the main for those of us who were SMFC supporters and are now SSFC supporters (and/or members).
