Since when does it mean you have to be a pig to qualify as a footy supporter? I thought footy was an egalitarian game that attracted all types. If people want a chardy, or a bourbon or bonox, so what? There always seems to be this effort to prove someone is more genuine in their support than someone else. Who cares? Those of you who have had to run the gauntlet walking out of the old Victoria Park as a visiting supporter after a nasty Collingwood loss may have wished for a crowd to be chardy loving tree huggers. I have had a wine at the footy. In fact, I've had a few. And a beer. And a pie. And a salad roll !!! Hang me.

Who cares what other clubs think. They can all get @@@@@@. You want a wine??? Go ahead and drink it by the flagon. And be loud and proud about it.

Interesting thought, people enjoying footy in their own way, with no archaic stereotypes

Nah, it will never catch on

And don't believe anything Jenky tells you about being innocent - isns't she the one who doesn't have a motel room for Fri night?

I thought the collingwood cheer squad set the standard in the first final by punching each other out and telling "eddie nein boss" to get nicked when he came down to see joffa's only tooth speak!

I really love getting calls from the Sydney Morning Herald an hour before my flight to Melbourne leaves as well.

The media are always so sympathetic about the amount of time they are taking during GF week, NOT! Ask SR4E; she had it even worse than me! Was so stressed that she chucked a massive hissy fit on GF day, which to be honest was pretty funny!

now here is a man who has it right - where does it say in the club by-laws that one cant drink Chardonnay ? It might surprise some that there are people from all walks of life who go to the football, so perhaps some here in Sydney may be a little more refined than others, but so what - at the end of the day we are all there for the same reason, to follow the team we love. It doesnt matter what our preferred poison is. Pass us another magnum of Bolly luv!

                          The chant...

Correct me if i'm wrong - which I'm sure many of you will if I am - but isn't the original point of the Syyydneeeeeeeyyyyy chant that once it gets going it is supposed to get faster and faster? Generally when Peter starts it at the SCG everyone starts for a bit then as soon as he sits down everyone stops [and goes back to sipping their white wine! hah - no, now I'm just stirring the pot...].
I seem to remember that being the point of the cheer before it made it into a swans 'regular' cheer song...?
~ Err.. No thanks.. But your car's hot! ~

It was a chant that went most the day at the GF last year ... thanks to the guys around us joining in and helping to get it going (and keep it going).

Bottom line ... if you hear it start up ... go full pelt.

Yeah.. unfortunately we were the last line of Syd supporters there at the GF before the rest of the bay was west coast behind us.. they started a "Barry is a wanker" cheer whenever we tried to get that one going!
                                I *hate* west coast supporters.
Some old lady actually pushed me over at the end of the grand final [I was celebrating rather jubilantly] - I was so shocked cos of how old she was that I didn't have a retaliation!
