    Hardly absurd.

They have similar outputs, one plays in the team that came one point away from back to back flags, and the other plays for a team that was miles away from the top teams for form with a coach that doesnt have the confidence of the playing group.

Johnson is three years younger. Still not yet in his prime.

Very creative player, and does the little things to setup his team mates. I rate him much higher than Davis, and would be happy to do a direct swap. I actually think we may get change for a trade like that too, so I would be all for it.

One problem with money bags davis is he has wonky ankles. So you never know what could happen there - but at the same time he has impressed without having completed a full preseason, so in my opinion he could be anything (much the same as 'Oliver' Davis who to me is simply happy being paid to play footy)
He ate more cheese, than time allowed

Having said that, whilst I think he has the capacity to deliver when and if he wants - a little consistency wouldnt go astray.

The problem is I would like to have Johnson at our footy club, and he would surely play Davis' role in the team. No great loss from my point of view. Didnt explicitly mean to turn the thread into a Davis bashing one.

Not that I wanna start Davis bashing again (you know it's my favourite subject) ....

Have to agree MMG, although I would prefer a LOT of consistency.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Well if you were watching the game in the last quarter... Instead of watching a replay of the Geelong game in which Johnson actually played - one of about three for the season...

And if we do ignore what you have just said.. i.e. playing on for that final goal.....

You would have seen him playing on the ball and creating a nightmare for the wet toast coaching panel as well as his deft handing off of the ball to running players left, right.. and most definetley.. centre!

Annie... Oh the shame.. I can't believe someone of your intelligence would even think to question Nick... He is an enigma but most geniuses are..

And you speak of consistency and Johnson in the same sentence... hmmm... just how many games did he string together this year??? And did someone say dodgy ankles???

I guess we can be grateful that you don't run the Swans recruitment department.

I think the earlier comment referred to the Preliminary Final by the way where Davo swung the game firmly in our favour in the 3rd quarter.

                God bless ya.
I love Davo bashing. It keeps me amused!!
Davo IS a game maker ... he has proved it enough times, I totally agree with that. Whilst I also agree that you have bad games and good games, I'd just like to see him have a few more good, consistent games.

I honestly believe Davo is very talented has LOTS and LOTS of potential. WHY DOESN'T HE USE IT? You can't just rest on your laurels in this game.

In saying that, along with a lot of other players, he turns up on game day and either tries to be the hero of the day, or does nothing. That's where I want consistency.

Enough of them have said ... if we stick to the game plan, and do what we're told to do, we'll win. It's when they deviate from the plan and try to be "hero for a day", that their game falls apart and they have to play catch up footy.

I've said it before and I'll probably say it again ... this tempo footy thing that Roosey's got happening .... it's the "flood" of the 90's. Every coach is now sitting down watching the swans games from last year and saying "how the hell did they get there again", and next year, we will see a lot more teams trying to beat us at our own game.

Enough about Davis. I dont like him, others do, that is clear.

What about Jericho? I have been impressed with him when I have seen him play. Big, fast kid. I think he could fit in nicely, and seems to be out of favour at the crows.

Ironic then that it took a quarter of individual brilliance to reach the point where we could win a flag.

                      Not this year it didnt.

Note that Kirk and Ball were also "individually brilliant" in that game.

So why would the other coaches be copying the Swans game plan? West Coast have now set the standard.

It still doesn't explain why you would want to trade one of our few creative players with an enigmatic, injury-prone player from Geelong who even they are keen to get rid of.

Why don't we trade Goodsey for Chris Tarrant while we're at it.

Ummmm...so because your first point is wrong, you make a counter point that has nothing to do with it??? What has copying our game plan got to do with Davis against geelong?

They are actually from quite a similar mould. Davis has missed his fair share of games too(aside from the tantrums he had this year) - and as I mentioned Johnson is younger, and is getting the same results in a team that is underperforming

Have they? WC are perceived by many as having the best list in the competition. No one questions that they have the best midfield.

Sydney, on the other hand, have achieved similar things to WC in the last two years with a team perceived as not being particularly star-studded (though admittedly the style wouldn't work anything like as well without a forward of Hall's quality).

It is hard for teams to aspire to play like West Coast if they don't have a quartet in the middle with anything like the talent and speed of Judd, Cousins, Cox and Kerr.

You've suggested we trade Davis so to illustrate how ridiculous that is I am suggesting we should trade Goodes while we're at it.

I don't think I'm the one who needs any "cred".
