Can't wait till I can say "do you want fries with those words" when Ch31 gets the rights!!

Ch7/10 are scaring the crap out of the AFL every time they mention Ch31. It's quite funny really. Theo Andrew's gunna be featured on Vasilli's Back Yard. Hilarious. Can't wait. "What fertiliser are you using on your tomatoes this year theo, they are coming up really well?" (please use your best w.o.g.-boy accent when you read that.)

Jamie's an idiot. Kerry must be spinning in his grave. I've heard from three people already who are cancelling Foxtel cause there's now NO footy on it.

I hope the AFL sticks with their rejection of Channel 31.

I'm certainly used to watching games at midnight.
I'm more than happy for 8 games on FTA ... I receive Ch31, ABC, ABC2, SBS ... they can play it where they want, I'm ready to watch.
You can't be serious can you??

Over the past few years we've been used to getting live non-Swans AFL on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons.

The missing gap was Friday night which was addressed in the new rights deal.

What may happen now is that a tin-pot community station that 95% of Sydney either hasn't heard of and/or can't receive will show Friday night games live and the matches we would have seen live over the weekend on PayTv will now end up being shown at 1230am.

I don't know how any footy fan can be happy with that.

Does it matter how much they "reject" the option?

I would think that the AFL wouldn't really have a say in it now that Ch7/10 have paid $780m for the broadcast rights?

If I purchased the right to do something for $780m, I certainly wouldn't want the people I bought it from telling me how they think it should be done. I would want to do it my way or the highway (all the more power to you too Kerry!!!)

That's another thing they've gotta look at for the new contract. Ah, the value of hindsight. They didn't know how sweet they had it when Ch9/Foxtel was running the show!!

AFL have to approve any on-selling.

This year on FTA, I would watch the Friday night game on Ch9 at midnight. Watch the Saturday arvo live game, tape the Saturday night Swans game (if I was watching it live), the Saturday game repeat played after midnight on Ch10/Ch9, the Sunday arvo live game and the Sunday night repeat after midnight. (I'm a night owl that just loves my footy ... I can sleep at work if I have to!)

That's six out of the eight games. For me, that's not too shabby (having no Pay TV).

If they keep that up, I'm ok with it. I could even squeeze in two more games (with the help of the video recorder).

Now I seriously don't believe that they'll put a live game onto Ch31 on a Friday night. It's an alternative that Ch7/10 are using to scare the @@@@ out of the AFL, i.e. they are saying to the AFL that PTV is NOT the only option. There are other options available, ready and willing.

I couldn't get channel 31, so I got a better aerial, and I got a set top box for ABC2. I get all the "alternative" stations they are throwing around. So, yes I AM happy with that.

That closely resembles my winter weekends....

But, if the swans were on Sat night, they wouldnt normally play another replayed game.

I would struggle to fit in more than 4/5 games a weekend anyhow, but it is no problem to watch the bounce at 11pm for me. Not really that appealing to new viewers, but either is having it on PTV where you have to pay to watch something you're not interested in.

Thugby League comes first in NSW/QLD. AFL in NSW is an afterthought.

The Victorians are just spoiled. They're used to seeing all the games all the time, that's why it going to be so hard to adjust.

How's that? Before Foxtel not all games were shown on TV and last year we only had three games live on FTA and one or two games live on Foxtel.

I thought the Vics got all the games on FTA.

I thought it was another option.
