Hall is just about in career-worst form.

I reckon we looked better with Hall staying within the 50 metre arc. It gave us more contests close to goal and for a change put plenty of pressure on the opposition's last line of defence. He kicked 4, sure not in sparkling form but made a contest. His problem is his stupidity when he is on 50 trying to pinpoint a dinky 20 metre pass. Both times today they were cut off and the turnover resulted in a direct goal. It is just perplexing why today he didn't put it up to the top of the square to Spida or Jolly.

Ordinary as the Swans were in the first quarter, have to give some credit to Carlton. Their pressure and tackling were sensational early - most un-Blues like. Shame they decided not to bother after quarter-time because otherwise they may have had made a decent contest of it. And whatever else their weaknesses, they do have some players capable of using the ball superbly by foot.

They seriously need a coach who is willing to drill them in doing the hard stuff for longer. With the talent they have in their team, it is a travesty that that have been sooo bad for sooo long.

A worthy stat for all those positive thinking Red and White fans:

The score against Carlton at 162 points was the most points scored by the Swans at any home game since way,way back in Round 12 1997, when they scored 164 points (26 goals-8 behinds) against Richmond. That was on 13th June 1997, some 10 years, 1 month and 2 days ago!

          Try to stay postive!!

But they kicked a bigger score against the Tigers at the MCG as recently as last season - arguably more impressive given it was away from home and a bigger ground to boot.

Yeah - that was the game I was thinking of. And yes, you're right. It was at the Dome.

Apart from the first 15 minutes I thought it was a great team game by Sydney. I thought Schneider was brilliant today and BOG for me. Some sublime footy from him at times, scoring 3 goals himself and seting up a few for others too (including Hall's last two). Another great game from Spida too. Also thought Kirk and Micky played well and even McVeigh had a decent game. Unfortunately Hall looked almost ridiculous at times today. His timing when trying to mark is often way out of whack.

                      Bring on the Evils!

Hall's marking technique is atrocious. The number of times he tries to take to ball on his chest rather than in his hands, plus if he does try to mark it in his hands they are invariably is out of sync with the flight of the ball.

I asked that at the game today. It sure isnt due to his groin. And then there was the stupid and obvious free kick he gave away in the last quarter and his subsequent tanrum which gave away 50m and saw Hall dragged from the ground. It was really quite pathetic.

it's never been great. i think the current low(er) standard could just be a result of poor balance and confidence due to his groin (or other) injury.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

i actually was glad to see him involved and, in turns, happy and angry. it's always been a good combination for him and hopefully will allow him to give what he can over the next 10 weeks.
