    Nope, not at all.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I don't think that suggesting this is bottom feeding journalism is making an excuse for Ben.

It seems that the reason that disgraced ex-west coast eagles fallen star ben cousins is still on the books at the budgie criminals is because the AFL told them to.

The AFL can't fine DEWCEFSBC for bringing the game into disrepute if he is not listed.

Seriously ... can it get worse?
There it is, all in a nutshell.

Ben Cousins has taken many people more a ride - and many people in here.

            Nope.

But it pretty much clearly indicates that his AFL career is over.
            Probably doesn't care through.
Brownlow, Flag...... time to embark on a career as a 'celebrity' in the States.

            The AFL should be wrapt.
            All this publicity......

Smacks of pure selfishness and arrogance. His family and friends here in Australia thinking he is going to do the right thing and he lets them down - AGAIN.

This is a guy who said he was going to rehab and wanted to continue playing in the AFL. He is also due to turn up at a hearing into bringing the game into disrepute. If he had retired after his sacking, then fair enough but this is fair game IMO.

If anything, it shows how dumb he is.
fair game indeed. that's why I want the afl to just deregister him now and we can all forget about him.

Where are all the apologists? You really should up your dosages of Gen X and learn to be a little more cynical.

Disgraced ex-west coast eagles fallen star ben cousins is a son of a mountain cow lying junkie. He lives a lie. Junkies are liars, they cannot be trusted. Bottom line. That's what I've been trying to get through to you all along.

Would you like fries with those words?

                      Eat heartily. Enjoy.

Stuff the AFL. Good on the Australian for making it a huge issue and bringing it out into the open (the Aus is my favourite newspaper - no footy bias). They should continue the pressure on Theo Andreas and the AFL to strengthen their drug and behavioural policies.

Like it or lump it, these "sports stars" are held in higher regard than most of the general population. Little kids love them. Adults love them. We all love them ... well, not if they play for the wobblies or the criminals, but generally, we all love them. They are paid an awful lot of money to basically ENTERTAIN us. How they conduct themselves during that time is very important. Most sail off into the sunset with their memories, probably never heard of again. How many of them are legendary ... still. How many of them are still respected, even decades after they've stopped playing. I'll use Kells as an example (out of literally thousands).

I'm just happy that even after he dies, he'll always be known as DISGRACED EX-WEST COAST EAGLES FALLEN STAR BEN COUSINS. Every single little bit of media on him starts with "fallen star" and/or "disgraced".

If or when ever he gets his head out of the drugs, that's gunna be a huge downer.

Yes - because I was right - and was pretty much told that I was a stupid fool for not feeling sorry for the junkie.

And no - because I really feel sorry for the apologists .... he got them a beauty.

                                Here's a sneak-peak into the bigger picture ....

What can disgraced ex-west coast eagles fallen star ben cousins do now?

Do you think he studied for a degree whilst he was under the care of the criminal budgies for 10+ years?

Did he do a trade course?

What chance has he got of finding future employment?

Which media agency will pick him up to talk AFL?

If I were an employer looking to employ someone, "reformed drug addict" doesn't look too good on a CV.

(Before the nuff nuff's have a go at me ... even smokers who have not smoked for 30 years are still called "reformed or ex-smokers".)

I sincerely hope he saved some of the big dollars he got when he was playing footy. He's not likely to make an awful lot money in the future.
