He did something that warranted to be dropped and only the club (and Davis probably) knows what that was. Maybe, we'll find out one day.
We'll see if the FW line is better with Bazza in and without Davis or the other way around.
Unless he was named in the 25 and then injured himself after the squad was named.

Then named emergency once the 22 was named due to his injury...

The only way this would make sense is if Sydney were giving up on finals already, and I doubt that's the case.
Roos has often made comments (as have many other coaches) that it's a long season. In the context of a single game, Barlow coming in for Davis is unlikely to be a game changer. I doubt that the bookies moved the spread much on that change. The idea is to win as many games as possible over the course of the season. In that context it is more important to get Barlow into the game to see what he can do, and continue to give the other younger players a chance to show what they can do as well.

Can Jack and Moore play consistently well enough to earn a place even when Fosdyke, Schmidt and Malceski (hopefully) come back from injury?

Is Bird the real deal? And Grundy too?

And I think Roos would like see Laidlaw get a few games early as well.

The point is, we don't want to have to decide in Round 21 if Grundy is good enough to play finals footy.

Davis is a money player. We know he can play in big games, and he looks ready based on week one. Give him some time off now. You can always bring him back if need be. Meanwhile, we can learn a whole lot about the depth of the Swans team and how difficult the transition will be to next generation of players.

As for Bevan, maybe we need to review Connolly's comments on Bevan. He seems to be closer in tune with the coaching staff than the rest of us. We should ask ourselves what it is about Bevan that keeps him in such good favour with the coaches.

        It's either injury or lunacy.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Look I'm really sorry, but last Saturday against the ainters, he was not the match-winner.

          He hasn't been a match-winner since very late 2005.

He had an excellent opportunity to do what he is paid to do, i.e. kick goals (albeit the winning one) and he failed and kicked a behind. Showpony at it's finest.

This is why I think he was dropped.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Matthews In, McVeigh In, Bevan In - Davis Out
                Ridiculous.
                Cannot justify this above.
Davis if given enought ball and a fair go - would zipp all those players.
Cant understand Roos thinking or judgement
                Just doesnt like Nick
I like his play and not given a fair go
I think it is the media bit
He cant say nil to media - but spider and others can pick up extra bits of media and it is ok
                Love those Swans

He is arguably our worst player in the last 5 years.

He has not done a single thing I can remember that to any extent turned the fortunes of a game, unless it was in favour of the opposition.

Half Forward's are the easist players in a team to replace. He has the negative of not being particularly fit, so many 1st 2nd 3rd year players are going to start their careers playing in his position, their fitness is probably as good if not better, or will quickly go past his level of fitness. More kms on the ground is more pressure on the opposition.

OK, Bevan is our second worst ever player. Happy?

In any case, I would think Davis has a slight niggle. Davis will never be consistent. He will never be an overly hard worker, like a Kirk or an O'Keefe. Roos knows this. He's always known it, and it hasn't prompted him to drop him before, so there's no reason he'd suddenly decide to drop him now.

People who are saying that Davis couldn't be injured because he is listed as an emergency, because he was listed in the initial squad of 25, he HAD to be an emergency. You can't bring players from outside that 25 into the 22 plus emergencies, so Davis, if he wasn't fit enough to play, could only be dropped to an emergency, and not out of the 25 altogether.

No. Our second worst player was Scott Russell. Our fourth worst player was Bomford. The reason Davis is out of the team now is because of the age of our forward line. Hall (30), Magic (31) Davis (28) are now relatively slow. The solution is to bring in a quicker, taller, more versatile and determined player than Davis.

That's because we didn't win, so obviously we didn't have a 'match winner'. It doesn't change the fact that Davis can make things happen, but Bevan (and many other love childs) can't.

The people who are actually praising Bevan, and this decision to drop Davis, are really struggling.

OK then, Bevan was our third worst player. And he's definitely our worst player right now.

If that was the thinking behind dropping Davis, then surely it would have made more sense to drop O'Loughlin or Hall. Both are older and slower than Davis.
