Based on Reserves reports that's not what happened though.

How is it lying to say that. Roos said he probably didn't deserve a game, presumably on form and effort. Roos was prepared to make excuses for him before the game. He wasn't after Davo's performance against Geelong. Nor should he.

Next season hopefully he will be in the blue and red stripes. Thanks for the memories Nick.
If Nick has played his last game at AFL level at least he'll be able to take some satisfaction into retirement from knowing that he earnt his premiership medal.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

          It's blatant double speak.

Roos: Davis has done enough to earn his reprieve

Roos: Davis returned probably when he didn't really deserve a game, to be honest

I didn't see the game or read extensive reports on it, for all I know he may have chased, etc.

I was referring to your assertion that we are the only team that would not use goals kicked as a barometer for a forwards performance. The text you bolded was simply an example of how a forward doesn't kick a goal, but helps the team as opposed to a shoot out mentality.

Sure there should be a range of areas to be assessed, but as a forward kicking goals should be one of the top couple.

Gee, 4ish people see a completely different side of things to the masses including the coaching/selection panels.

                  Makes you wonder.

Would it have made more sense if he'd added "res ipsa loquitor"?

Have you even seen a game this year?

No, because not only would he had misspelled it, it wouldn't have made sense.

I'd say on those KPIs the coaching panel would say the facts themselves speak hence his honesty in assessment after the event.

Personally, I hope the Swans are as tough on Davis as they like. Liz' fair judgement doesn't put him in our top 10 players. In terms of ability he should be fighting for Brownlow votes with Goodes. He gave me my favourite moment in footy and watching him jog around on the edge of the action breaks my heart. I'd be happy if Roos put a sniper on the roof of the SCG and told Davis "if you don't work your heart out every moment you're on the ground then legs, wings or breasts will be the least of your concerns."

Goalkicking is obviously not overly important.

In 2007 Davis finished 29th in the competition in goals per game, which made him the second highest scoring third forward in the competition.

I don't think Davis has played particularly well, however I think he should have been given a decent shot this year (like plenty of others players do when their form is not great) as he has been a valuable contributor over a number of years. Instead, he was made the scapegoat after one game when nearly everyone played badly, and same again in the second loss.
