He didn't deserve to be dropped after round 1, so I suppose dropping him now would be consistent if nothing else.

That is the myth being perpetuated by Roos but is not backed up by any evidence in the games he has played."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

After the 2005 SF Roos doesn't really comment on the fabulous game Davis plays (and as a result meant that Roos won the premiership he wouldn't have won otherwise), instead focussing on other aspects, like Ablett's tap in from the boundary line.
In 2006 Davis was definitely made the scapegoat. His numbers were pretty good in the first half of the year, getting disposals, goals and tackles. Far better than MOL or McVeigh for example, yet Davis is made example of for two months.
Since he came back he has been playing off the bench for much of that time with reduced minutes and far less as a target. Despite that his 2007 numbers are still good - better than MOL or McVeigh again for example.
Yet, one game into 2008 and again he is dropped. Performs well in the reserves, Roos says he has earned his spot back, then Davis plays only average, and Roos does an about face to say he hadn't earned his spot back, and Davis is dropped again.
And people continue to believe this line Roos has been spinning for a few years.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I think the circumstantial evidence suggests that Roos really doesn't like Davis. Certainly Davis doesn't do himself any favours by not performing as well as he could, but that's not why he is dropped.

I think someone monumentally @@@@@@ up there with his rest times. Davis was also standing waiting to come on for what seemed like about 5 minutes as the runner tried to get the guy he was replacing off the ground.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

And then strangely after saying he will be dropped, he isn't. I wonder the point of Roos' little games.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

It reminds of working for a boss who no matter how good you are refuses to acknowledge your efforts, eventually you think "sod this for a game of soldiers why should I bother working my butt off when others round here get more credit for doing less?". I suspect many of us have been in a similar situation.Bring it on!Comment

IMHO Davis is one of our best goal kickers so he should have been left on the park. Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Well said. I suspect Davis will give the game away at the end of his contract.
