After the 2005 SF Roos doesn't really comment on the fabulous game Davis plays (and as a result meant that Roos won the premiership he wouldn't have won otherwise), instead focussing on other aspects, like Ablett's tap in from the boundary line.

In 2006 Davis was definitely made the scapegoat. His numbers were pretty good in the first half of the year, getting disposals, goals and tackles. Far better than MOL or McVeigh for example, yet Davis is made example of for two months.

Since he came back he has been playing off the bench for much of that time with reduced minutes and far less as a target. Despite that his 2007 numbers are still good - better than MOL or McVeigh again for example.

Yet, one game into 2008 and again he is dropped. Performs well in the reserves, Roos says he has earned his spot back, then Davis plays only average, and Roos does an about face to say he hadn't earned his spot back, and Davis is dropped again.

And people continue to believe this line Roos has been spinning for a few years.
Most coaches dislike some of their players. Most importantly Roos loves success. If he thought Davis cuts the mustard he would pick him. Your conspiracy theory belongs in the Mills & Boon school of coaching - "He loves me - he loves me not, he loves . . . " Kid Terrific is on an undeserved last chance tomorrow. Lets hope there is enough lurve around for the fragile flower to able to get a kick.

That's funny coming from Paul Bevan himself.

If Nick can't get the job done today, it would be a big concern I'd think. Roos are missing half their defence with Brown, Pratt, Gibson and possibly Smith out.

watched 2 games last night both from 2005 though but still. For some reason for the first time ever i watched the qualifying final v the eagles. Then i watched the semi final v geelong. Davis was popping up in defence a lot and pushing through the midfield and around the ground. I think last week he was put back in the side and just plonked forward.

If he didnt get 4-5 goals he had failed. He needs to be given time on the ball to get his hands on it and get his confidence up. Maybe that is his fault who knows, but i would of thought the coaching staff could send a clear instruction to move into the middle or something just for a burst. He delivers the ball forward with a lot more precision than others.

And don't forget his fierce tigerish tackling would be a tremendous asset in the midfield.

well actually he was tackling well theres even comment made on it.

im not saying poor poor davis the teams treating him badly. But if the ball is not comming forward and creating opportunities why not move him?? get him involved?

it does not benefit the team to have someone with his skills or any player in the 22 for that matter not involved in the play.

Playing like a bloke witn no confidence and no idea of what he is supposed to be doing. Very tentative all day (well, all of the day I saw).

I watched a few 05 06 games during the week and there was no doubt it was a reasonable part of the Davis package. Sad to say it's completely gone at the moment but he had a few mates up forward today.

                        SOFT

8:45 to go in the last quarter, pulled out of a contest against a sheparding North Melbourne player.

If you cannot kick a goal, at least fly the flag. You can just tell, the guy is scared of getting hurt.

Nick, if you read this - you are a soft @@@@.

Meh - this is the sort of thing Hall does and I see little benefit in it, except potentially to give a free away. I've also seen plenty of players in other sides pull up rather than run into the opposition when there is little purpose, but it seems that Sydney holds a lot of stock in that sort of action.

Yes, I played junior football and I've watched football for 30+ years. I think the 'fly the flag' by running into people is overrated. Yeah, Davis could throw himself in harder, but not when there is no need.
