Jim Main Knocks RWO?

Criticising people who do things for charity and altruism to the betterment of others is in poor taste.
However, the notion that Swans players are Christ like figures, playing for selfless reasons, is wide of the mark.
They get paid a @@@@load of money to go out there, although I suspect most would do it for free.
They should not be deified and are not above public opinion or indeed, scorn. Having said that, what we write on here says so much more about US than it does about the players. That's why RWO is interesting.
I think you have missed the point, criticism is one thing, and of course there is always going to be criticism of players because they are only human and are going to make mistakes.
What peeves me off, and the point I am trying to make is that people jump on here and call players "wankers" and the like need to have a good hard look at themselves. There is being critical of how a player is playing, and being damn rude to a person, who yes, is being paid "alot" of money to do what they do, but people give the opinion on these forums that the players are doing it on purpose. Give me a break.
I get paid alot to do what I do for a living, and yes I make mistakes in what I do every now and again as well. If someone I worked with called me a wanker they would get what staker got from hall.Comment

Certainly the players are paid well and seem to have a pretty enviable life, so its very easy for us fans to show our frustration when they make a clanger, but we have to remember that they really don't WANT to make a mistake, kick a point instead of a goal, etc etc !
I think fans forget (or didn't realise) that the players do read these sites (why wouldn't they?) and ARE hurt by some of the comments.Comment

The knockers had been mercilessly critical of several players who have given the Swans out?@standing service over many years.
These ?boo boys? dished it out to Ben Mathews, Jared Crouch and Jude Bolton ? three premiership players.
Yep.... He's definitely talking about RWO...Comment

Did I compare players to Christ? No

Back on topic, the whole Inside Footy website is horrible to behold. No wonder Jim is frustrated by the internet. He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.Comment

I have tried to find out how to contact Mr Jim Main all day (since this was posted on RWO). If anyone has a contact address for Mr Jim Main that a sub-editor cannot glance over and delete (ie a direct e-mail address would be good), could you please PM me. Please don't plaster it all over the boards.Comment

He has a letters column in the print version of IF and I know some of his mail comes via email (because he says when it does). I haven't bought the overpriced rag for several years now but I'm sure someone here must have a copy lying around somewhere.Comment

I tend to agree with most of what Jim said. When I first joined RWO, I almost didn't last a week here. Some of the crap written on here was just that, crap.
But then I realised there were actually some cluey posters on here, they just don't seem be the most vocal ones!
I agree with forums being alot like pub conversations. I've worked in pubs for 10 years. You could forget 90% of them and not be any worse off. There is only so much value you can put in the opinion of a fat drunk.
Liz, get yourself up to borders, grab a coffee and read Inside Football for free, like me!Comment

I see a football much like a chess game. Each team has 40 odd players to choose from which to make a squad of 22.
Fans get upset, not directly with the player necessarily, but the position they have been moved into on the chess board.
Some believe they should not be part of the 22 selected, others they were moved into the wrong position. Some are pawns that we all know try hard, but just don't cut the mustard. We get upset because the coach continues to play them in the side.
Very few posts are specifically about players (personally), they are about their movements and how we would like to see our side structured.
When I say "XXX had a poor game today", I often follow it up with why I believe this, and where their improvement is.
The majority of posters on this website offer insightful constructive criticism.
There are far worse places around than red and white online.Comment
