There were plenty of articles about him (not sure now if they were around 05 semi or when he was dropped) that talked about the team going through a lot of drills because of him.

And I wonder if another player did the same thing whether the same rules would have applied. Unless of course you take the way the leadership group hung Barry Hall out to dry publicly for the Staker punch - but then I didnt hear of the players doing any extra training drills becasue of it! You forget Roos didnt even give Davis the praise he deserved after the semi match in '05 - any other coach would have been beside themselves. Obviously there is no great love between the two. It also must be hard for his Dad considering his involvement with the club.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

I also said that there are issues there with him and the club that we dont know about - people either like him or hate him. I like him - he has talent and if he could produce the magic we know he is capable of again I'm sure the opinions of some will be different. His confidence is down and I dont know if it will ever get back up again - only he can do that and I hope he does.
I dont have a problem with some show ponys. I actually like Aka. I think he's good for the game. He was a real @@@@@ to Brisbane, and I'm sure I'd have mixed feelings about him if I were a lions fan. They did the right thing to get rid of him, and I hope for the Dogs that they can keep him in check.

I'm a big fan of Steve Johnson. Maybe I wouldn't be if he were a swans player.

I really dont like Davis. As he was happy to say, shoulda coulda won a brownlow. He has that talent. He went through a pretty prolific period (was it 2005?) where he was kicking 2-4 goals every week. But I'm pretty sick of hearing he's got talent. If he's not putting it to use, what's the use of it?

thats fair enough too - I just wish he would see the light, or what ever and get his @@@@ together.

I'd be interested in seeing the articles because I don't recall that happening.

As I recall, Kirk et al arranged early morning sessions because of the team's general poor form, but by that stage Davis was already serving his penance in Canberra.

You're right there. I remember the hwls from the Weagles supports in the stands behind us. Shouts of "not again".

He really did get us back into the game in 06. Just because it didn't translate into a win it doesn't mean the contribution is diminished in any way.
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector

I would love to know why he spent the last 5 minutes or so of the GF on the bench. Was he spent? and is this why he has fallen so far out of favour? Was he forgotten or left there on purpose? and is this why he no longer seems to care? Did Woosha just bench Nick's man knowing that Roos and co were unable to change plans on match day? I have no idea what the reason was, or whether it continues to be an issue for anyone, but would love to know.

I do think that someone screwed up the times on that one, but in all fairness to the coaching staff he was standing at the interchange waiting to come on for a couple of minutes but I'm pretty sure the runner simply couldn't get the guy he was replacing off as there wasn't an appropriate passage of play.

An example of how effective that system has been came when Nick Davis, the brilliant but sometimes wayward forward, stepped outside the team's guidelines. Davis's fellow players made it clear his excess weight and sometimes lacklustre training habits were not acceptable.

That is a poor example, and doesn't say what I was saying, but most of the articles from 2005 have been moved. (I cant find any of the articles where Davis said he could win a brownlow either).

There were mentions that the team had done numerous extra sessions due to his lacklustre training habits mentioned above.

Shouldnt the thread title be changed from "Davis asks for second chance" to "Davis asks for 5th chance"

                              2 things.

Firstly I remember the comments you refer to. I don't remember it being said expressly that the extra training was due to Davo, but I recall that most thought that it was fairly clearly implied.

Secondly, I have a bit of sympathy for Nick and his 2 or 3 Brownlows comment (which I intend to elaborate on in a new thread when I have 10 minutes to sit down and articulate what I am thinking). I remember (and I could be wrong) Nick saying that he thought he could have won a couple of Brownlows had he played in the pastas he played v Geelong in 2005, not that he was going to do it. I am pretty sure the comment was in the past tense, and I also reckon that it is highly likely that it was made flippantly, probably more saying that form like he had for a game, if translated consistently over a season, would equal Brownlows, not that he was going to win multiple Brownlows in the future.

the thing that i find wierd about nick is that he has been resigned on a reasonable length deal, so obviously the club rates him and wants him or they are just stupid.

He was never named as trade bait last year like say jude bolton and it would be unlike the swans not to be public with a nick davis issue. So between last season and the start of this year they wanted him.

His last season was quite good, i know he wasnt great in the final but he did kick 2 goals and made the most of very limited chances and then was considered in our best 22 in round one.

If he kicked straight he would of had 2 goals and the match winner. He got 14 possies and seven marks, 1 goal 2. Not the best ever, but good solid figures for a small forward when your team struggles to 50. So out of that rabble why was he dropped and then told he needs a month to get right?

then yeah hall was out he was chucked to full forward for limited game time for 2 games, but he had no confidence.

The point i guess is what happened in that one week that he suddenly wasnt right or suddenly didnt fit into the 22, if he is as bad as some on here say why did he get resigned and why didnt the club try to trade him or delist him before this season.
