and all this stuff about "if we lose to Collingwood - I blame Goodes" is just undermining the rest of the teams ability. They did damned well without Barry Hall for 7 weeks, I doubt if missing Goodes for 1 will be the end of the world.

Goodes is a fantastic player, but he just pushed his luck too far - the MRP couldnt let it go undetected again - it was afterall the third time this year he had messed up.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

"I've seen that.... I'm not concerned" Paul Roos,
GOODES GETS BAD NEWS AS SUSPENSION LOOMS, SMH

This led you to believe they would contest it, maybe the travel arrangements got in the way.

The unbroken run of games is impressive but not as important as the opportunity to contest for another Premiership.

He can get have a really good freshen up now.

For those who fret now that Goodes is about to relinquish his lead in the consecutive games list, don't worry. Our boys are doing okay:

Current consecutive games - top 12:

          1. Adam Goodes (SY) 204
          2. Matthew Pavlich (FR) 157
          3. Brett Kirk (SY) 143
          4. Kane Cornes (PA) 118
          5. Ryan OKeefe (SY) 112
          6. Brendon Lade (PA) 106
          7. Tarkyn Lockyer (CW) 96
          8. Adam Cooney (WB) 87
          9. Brent Harvey (NM) 86
          10. Michael OLoughlin (SY) 84
          11. Darren Milburn (GE) 83
          12. Darren Jolly (SY) 80

Three in the top 5, and 10 in the top 12.

Rekon your spot on with this comment.

                BUT :

Goodsey has been treading a fine line he has himself to blame and the MRP.
They wouldnt (The Club & Leadership Group ) would be really pissed with Adam for letting himself and the club down again and have accepted this as much as a form of punishment and to get it over and done with.
The AFL has to fix the MRP as it simply has the football world in disaray with its interpratations on the rules. Adam has simply gone this time on what he has done in the past and once he was cited the outcry if he didnt go would of had the football world out to lynch him.
Ive said this in the past, this is why Adam has not got the captains job because he doesnt lead in the manner the Club want, sure he probably is our "Champion" we have ,though he certainly carries a few issues with him.
We have had our sucess based on discipline and ETHOS and its why we are where we are at. Goodsey has simply got to get this out of his game.

And I wonder - what do you think about Mattner stepping in in his place, given last week's performance? He's got the run and is a pretty accurate kick.
Definitely has some merit. We often play one of Malceski, Kennelly and Mattner on the wing for parts of games anyway.

Who would come into the team to replace Goodes?

I find it quite amusing that people would nominate Barlow given the calls that he was quite soft in his last game?

                        Everitt if fit, otherwise Schmidt.

                          depends on our structure

probably need everitt back to help jolly, but does he need a run in the 2nds. Would like everitt back for the hawks game as they will waste most of their time belting him while we win.

i would make a couple of changes to the side. Id like to see barlow back ahead of schmidt.

Probably should've been Fosdike, but now he's injured, you would assume it would be Barlow, Schmidt, Brennan, or Smith.

But maybe, just maybe, they may bring Davis back to play against his old team??
Maybe that was the what Ireland was talking to him about.

Goodes is the thief booked for jaywalking - Richard Hinds

AS IS often the case in matters determined by quasi-legal systems geared to administer sometimes ambivalent rules and regulations rather than dispense justice in its purest form, it was not an act of brutality or even significant negligence that brought Adam Goodes's unbroken streak of 204 games to an end.

Amazingly for a dual Brownlow medallist who remains a consummate ball player despite some recent brushes with authority, it was his bad reputation. Of the four cases Goodes has faced during a tumultuous 14 months, the extremely light head-high bump on Melbourne's Clint Bartram on Sunday that resulted in the one-game ban accepted yesterday was easily the least serious - even allowing for the AFL's determination to protect the heads of players over the ball.
