I would have thought so and we should see what really happens. I would still be surpsied if we dont finish with a player as well..
We have no idea what is going on behind the scenes, and certainly not privy to anything that is meaningful. I am sure that Maxfield, ireland and PR will always do thier best for the Swans. Our position is not strong, because of his contractual situation; it is ROK that we should be venting our spleen on, not our Management. Remember, they thought they had ROK agreed to a a deal..and then..
Green is a good player..will fit in well with the Swans, if it boils down to a straiught swap for ROK, of course we are getting shafted, but given our postion, is not our recruiting team that is letting us down, rather our former "hero".Comment

O'Keefe closer to heading to Hawthorn - Breaking News - Sport - Breaking News
The Hawks must now finalise a trade deal with Sydney, with negotiations revolving around Hawthorn's first round national draft pick, No.16 overall, or their second round (No.34) and players.
A request by the Swans for a straight swap for several Hawthorn players was rejected by the Hawks.
Looks like we're favouring picking up experienced players over having the draft pickComment

I am so sick of this club. Will they ever get decent draft picks and draft some YOUNG, talented players? Brad Green for ROK is being ripped off big time and will not help us for the future - maybe just some more mediocre, lower top 8, finals fodder "success" that will help cover the cracks for a year or two more. Anyone would think that Roos and the club don't want another flag. Sounds as if success to them is simply playing finals.---------||--ANNE--||----------Comment

Are those stats meant to demonstrate the similarities between the two? I don't think we need stats to tell us that. You just need to watch the odd game of football. Green is a very very good player and had an excellent season this year, one of the few lights in a bleak Dees winter. And if you were going to pick a player most similar in style / attributes to ROK, it would probably be Green. He's not such a good contested mark and maybe doesn't run quite as much (though he'd not be far off). I suspect he can't match what ROK has added to his game this year in terms of contested possessions - though he's certainly not soft. But he's a more reliable shot for goal, which goes someway to compensating. So if we were looking for a like-for-like trade, it is probably the best we could muster.
I guess the issue is that while the Swans would almost certainly never have looked to off-load ROK, the fact that he's forced the issue gives the club - or at least, should in theory - a chance to just slightly rebalance the age profile of the list. That doesn't necessarily have to be with another 18 or 19yo but could be with a decent quality 22-24 yo, something we're a bit light on for. So while Green is a comparable player, the question is whether it would be better to get someone not quite so proven but with a little more potential to develop (but with the decent chance they wouldn't get much better). Sadly the difficulty of doing trades within the constraints of AFL trading that is hard to do.Comment

I swear, if this trade goes through I wouldn't even bother watching a game next year.
Someone please tell me this is some rumour created on BF or SENComment

And the Swans have stuck to their word of only trading ROK for a first round pick, even if it is the last pick in the first round, sorry but laughable Hawthorn win again.
When is it worthwhile to say no, we also require that young player with such an average pick - Just wondering if the Swans require a negotiator I'm willing to come in - after all I'm in the property game, what negotiating skills do the current Swans camp have???Comment

A bit early for that sort of speculation. Seems our requirement was an "assortment" of players..rejected by the Hawks..this deal is not done yet, and we need give some kudos to our guys who are looking out for the club. Ireland is no fool, and I am sure this story still has a few twists in the tail yet. Would be very very surpised if the deal gets done for 16 alone..but if so, we do it and move on.Comment

I heard that trade suggestion. It was just some bloke ringing up and suggesting it. David Schwartz deemed it as really a swap of ROK for BG as far as the Swans are concerned, and I got the impression he deemed that the Swans would be on the losing end of that one. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

That kind of comment deserves a good slap in the face. Seriously. Some of you people carry on like the club is pushing ROK out the door. He wants to leave and the club is trying to secure the best deal possible without losing him to the draft and getting zilch. Others of you are carrying on like the club has a history of failure when it comes to trade week - get a @@@@@@@**g a grip!!Occupational hazards:

I would rather pick 34 on it's own over Green.
Seriously what good will it do to have Green on the list?
He isn't as good as O'Keefe, and is the same age.
When trading, you need to try and add youth to your squad and/or add a bit of extra class. Getting Green for O'Keefe does neither of those things.
Would be one of the dumbest trades ever.Comment
