I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I gave you my opinion here - It was not well received at the time, but I wasn't the only one. I have seen no different prior to or since ...

Thanks for the understanding and support Wardy. Unlike some of the the callow pimplies here that have sniggered at life's autumn shadow falling on my sunny corner . However, this is all really more hope than reality. The share market has collapsed and a lot of the superannuation pretenders and wideboys will be lining up with me on the back markers this summer. Fair dinkum some of the sheila's out there can calculate a super payout quicker than an insurance actuary. Well it might not be a summer of free love but hopefully it will be cheap and desperate.

If you ever come to Sydney (and can manage to put your man-love for Bevo on hold for a few hours), we've gotta go out and drink.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Mate that would be good. However i would probably only catch a cold. Still we could ruminate on the ascending career of the Bevanator, the unfairness of women towards decent blokes and the enigmatic little champs stint with the red and blues in Melbourne. Port Melbourne of course. (This thread is now back on topic)

No probs - the life of a single person over 40 is crap alot of the time! (I should know!!!)- I have stopped looking at my super and seeing how its disappearing before my eyes. But things will get better life goes on (gotta hope that "action" over summer is good too you) - god only 24 weeks and the new season starts!!! I need to get out more.
But I'm still sad about Nick (better get it back on topic otherwise the mods might get a bit miffed!)

That would be great. Not discussing the kid's stellar season is a big ask but we could chat about the greatest forward since John Coleman's upcoming career with Port Melbourne. (Still on topic)

I was thinking about this yesterday again and you're definitely right.

From '03-'05, Davis averaged per game 12.2 disposals, 3.7 marks, 1.5 goals, 66% accuracy, 1.2 tackles.

There were no suggestions during that time that he was lazy or no good or should be dropped.

From '06-'07, Davis averaged per game 12.7 disposals, 4.6 marks, 1.6 goals, 65% accuracy, 1.6 tackles.

And now suddenly he's lazy, doesn't tackle or chase, doesn't get to enough contests, etc.

No doubt that one quarter in 2005, which was critical in our quest for a flag, ruined Davis' career by setting the benchmark too high.
