I loved the story about how he got into trouble for celebrating his goal too much when the AA team were up by heaps...."it's not every day you kick a goal for your country" - loved it!!!!Comment

Well the significant media and public interest in the future of Nick Davis has ensured the news 'leaked', so I don't know what they're waiting for. Confirming the delisting of one player and recognising his contribution to the club doesn't mean you have to announce the cutting of others at the same time."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

You used Mathews as an example earlier. He retired. Davis was delisted, or in real world terms, sacked.
I think your expectations on the handling of this are tad high.
Whatever is going on behind closed doors we have NFI, and all this speculation about what has or hasn't happened, and what should and shouldn't happened is getting very tiring. It's been going on for years now.
I think it is time a lot of people moved on.Comment

More probably straight out of the Don King textbook for grandstanding self promoters that Thommo is (slowly) reading from. Thommo is at the moment on page 7. As there are no pictures it is a bit of a struggle. This is the page that advises player touts to seize the intiative with the media and keep their mug clients names up there in lights. Its all a hoot and a breeze during the post season slow period for slack jourbo's who have nothing much to write about. The cloying self effacement of the Davo interview is a nice touch and serves the purpose of trying to con the market into offering a contract. You see Davo is really a bit of a scallywag but can kick a goal. Maybe Freo will fall for it. Thommo's grubby fingerprints are all over this.Bevo bandwagon driverComment

Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
"[T]here are things that matter more and he's reading and thinking about them: heaven, reincarnation. Life and death are the only things that are truly a matter of life and death. Not football."Comment

I'm surprised so many posters have such great access to the Swans inner sanctum! You all can tell us what the coach thinks, what the other players think, the political movements within the club, the recruiting stategies, etc etc.
As a result you have exposed the club as pursuing such questionable values as hard work, supporting your teammates, repaying the coaches faith after receiving who-knows-how-many chances, not exposing your team mates up the ground by not chasing, etc etc ....
Seems it's time to redefine our values, hey?
- Play one good quarter of footy and you're signed for life.
- Work ethic doesn't matter - it's raw talent that's important!
- There should be no accountability for your actions if you have talent.
- Leadership groups and coaches should have no power to influence the group
- 90 minutes of hard team footy is much less important to the outcome than 10 minutes of selfish footy which ends in glory once in a while.
- If a talented player can't fit in, then it is the coaches and the other players fault. Even if the latter groups have spent 5 years trying to tolerate the former's lack of respect for the organisation.
- All other values are to be written by any wayward talent who can't respect others.
Now let's start recruiting. We need talent above attitude -
Lawrence Angwin would be a good start, let's keep Davo, Damien Cupido's a star, Lovett's worth a try, Karl Norman he's got talent, Anthony Corrie, Jeff farmer etc etc.
A team full of that sort of talent which is not held back by hard working team players and stupid team rules, would make a flag is absolutely inevitable!Comment

Adelaide's approach:
General Manager of Football Operations John Reid said: ?We thank them all for their commitment to the club and wish them well in their future endeavours. Kris in particular has given the club great service playing 88 games for Adelaide and six pre-season games.?"As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

Obviously all we have left at this time of the year is speculation, and we have no idea who told the press- but frankly I have zero issue with any player that has been delisted talking to the media about it prior to a club officially announcing it- especially when it really will have no impact on potential trades.
After the end of trade week a delisted player who wishes to continue their career has around 10 weeks to make other clubs think of them.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Touche, however, I believe he is still a required player. If they could convince him.
A Group thank you. I expect we'll get something similar when the delistings are announced officially.Comment

However, some people expect the club to be jumping through hoops for a player they hold in high regards, and none of the other 15 clubs seemed to hold him in the same regard otherwise they would have made a play for him.
The guy has personality issues. (from a reliable source).
I expect the club will make official announcements, when all delisted players are notified. Maybe some are on holidays and are not contactable yet.Comment

Davis will be sadly missed.
Watch this if you want to be really angry about him being delisted

Now show me a YouTube of Nick Davis in that form, with that impact, with that desire ... SINCE ... that great night in 2005?
Didn't think so - and don't give me the line he was hardly on the park - There have been plenty of times.
I don't like him going anymore than most here, but he has done sweet @@@@ all for the last 3 seasons...Time to give someone else a go.
*sigh*Comment
