Well looks like we'll be downgrading and getting the Gold SCG only membership this year. Still paying over $40/game but we prefer SCG over Homebush (even though we all live closer to Homebush). The upfront price is at least budgeted for already, and since pay-by-the-month isn't an option for me, this will probably be the winner.

Now, should we contact the club before we receive our membership packs to make sure we don't miss out, or should we just wait? I have a strong feeling they're going to run out of Gold seats as Platinum members downgrade.

When is the cut off date for renewing or changing seating?

I was talking to a bloke at the luncheon I was at yesterday (member in the reserved seating etc) first he was told that the interchange was going infront of him did he want to move - so they said yes - then he gets his new allocation and it has gone up by about $85 per ticket - he has a few memberships being for his wife and adult kids - (but he works for the major sponsor so really he could get a free ticket every week if he really wanted too!) Anyway - he knows of another person who rang and wrote to the club and put their complaint forward and they were basically told to "like it or lump it, pay the cost or dont" so I dont know if any compaint will make a difference. I guess we just wait and see how many people drop out, or down grade their membership - It will be on for young and old now getting a seat in the Red Zone!

This will be the interesting bit. I'm sure they would have benchmarks on ther expected levels of membership. If they see a huge drop in membership, will they re-evaluate part way through the year? I doubt it. but next year? maybe.

exactly - I guess the rent would have gone up at the SCG as well with the new stand and all - the crowd of clowns that run the Trust need to fund their long lunches somehow.

they really have to be careful with this. The Sydney footy public being as fickle as it is,they will just drop the Swans like a bad fart if they feel they are being screwed. time will tell.

Has anyone in Sydney actually received the membership pack yet?

              I haven't ... should I panic?

Thanks Glenn, I feel a little better. Big deep breaths. Damn them. They know I'm waiting for it. I wish they'd hurry up with it.

For anyone who has received it, AND were paying by instalments last year - have you heard from Debit Direct? Will they be "automatically" debiting like they did this year (i.e. if your membership didn't change from 2007 to 2008, they automatically started taking instalments)? OR ... is there something in the brochure that says payments will not start automatically?

(Yes, I can view it on line, but I have to magnify it by 25,000% to see it and then stuff around to read it ... I have a 15 inch screen at work - dinosaurus crt-is. )

Payments will start automatically unless you decide to change your seating.
Which there will be a lot of.
So I guess you can sit back and relax and let the autopilot take over.

Thanks PinkEmu. I thought that would happen.

I'm conversing with the club as we speak. The membership packs that have been posted out are mainly for those who use Smart Pay ... the payments start in December so that have to get them all out and ready (... so where's mine club??).

Very lucky for me, I won my membership for next year at the last after match function this year. Normally, it would be autopilot, but as I'm sure you can understand, there's no need for them to automatically take my money when it's not necessary.

So why the panic? Perhaps the reason they haven't sent out the glossy prospectus whoops sorry membership brochure is that they have automatically renewed yours. They obviously know they had better not mess with your seats

BTW I reckon they've put the prices up to pay for that brochure, it was a bit more professionally put together than previous seasons

I've freed up a seat for someone.

Wonder what time Don from the Blue Mountains will leave home to ensure he gets the exact same seat he's had for a zillion years.
