if a player comes to a decision after careful consideration and consultation with medicos, physios, the coach and his closest team-mates past and present that he does not have what it takes it is not in the interest of the club for him to stay out out of duty/loyalty.
this is a much better situation than him pulling the plug mid-season after a sequence of below-par performances.
it is also a much better situation than there having been a hasty decision at the end of last year.

and if you think simon is wrong about the nature of afl contracts, then please point out his error instead of trying to paint him as arrogant. play the ball not the man and you might just manage to reflect some of the character tadhg has shown in the past decade.
