The ONLY problem with Shaw (much to my relief as I was aghast at the pickup initially) is that he has the same brain fades as Teddy Bevo and M.M and LRT. For some reason nearly our entire backline can play like kings one second then do the most stupid thing ever on a football field. What I mean is that the mistakes they make seem to be "intelligence errors" rather than traditional skill errors....ie thinking too slowly or choosing the wrong low percentage option so that if you have an error on THAT option it turns into a career threatening clanger.

All but Shaw are absolutely appalling at getting caught with the ball after seconds in the headlights wondering what to do. This absolutely kills me!

His game today proved what a joke of a thread this was.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

One of the reasons this happens is that downfield players have not moved into space or we are manned against. Out team plan is foir the defenders to deliver to space or leading down field players. They are not allowed to just bomb it out of defense. This is because our centre of attack is on thr half back line. So our defenders will ocassionally be caught because of static downfield play.

Another good game today. I think we're going to have to get used to the occasional clanger from Shaw, but so long as he attacks the footy as hard as he has been and his ball use is otherwise as superb and creative as it has been, he'll be an important part of our team for a fair while!

I just hope he gets to 100 games, has a kid with a female rocket scientist, and we'll have super-fast AND intelligent little Shaws running around in the red and white in no time!
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

Very impressive isn't he? He is so quick - quite amazing.
I like that he helps direct things in the D50 - gets back and points out opportunities to Grundy, Bevo etc. Showing a lot of leadership.
He is also a bright guy. Speaks very well in the media - no ums and ahs there and avoids the cliche.
My only criticism - wish he'd smile more!

The more disposals a player has, the more chance he has of a clanger or two. As a percentage of his disposals, it would be far far less than someone like Luke Ablett.

Playing for Collingwood would tend to suck the joy from a person.
