Gee I hope he studies hard. If he fails his VCE, he might have to repeat yr 12 or maybe even do it at TAFE like how the losers at my school ended up. How would he ever fit training in then?? One good thing about Swans being unlikely to make the finals ... he gets to go to his formal.

Policeman: "Yes, I was married once."

No doubts in the world he has the passion and commitment to go all the way.

I think Dan is the Swans next big thing and he will deliver. Looking forward to his 2010 when he has the chance to really explode for the Swans.

      Thoughts?
I'm still waiting for a "bold prediction"... what is it?

Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

There were comments that the ANZ was hard underfoot with a soft/long grass layer (NRL played there Fri night). So if the kids were not as fast they probably weren't as sure on their feet as the ground didn't feel right. Some of the cats came assunder as well.

I just thought at times he looked a bit tired last night. doing year 12, playing 4 games of AFL footy in a row and traveling up to sydney must be taking it out of him. He will be better for it next year.

I think he's going to be fantastic for us. Can't wait to see what he's like when his disposal?fitness/strength gets better. He strikes me as having the potential for being a mad hothead though. Hope the team can find a proper use for his natural hardness at it.

This thread is missing a bold prediction, so - Nick Smith will be an AA player by the end of his career.

Yes, very funny, realise that only just yesterday. I think I started out thinking that he'd be our next Brownlow possibility and would also skipper the club before age 25.

In fact of all the young ones, who amongst them will be the next Captain?

I still consider Mcveigh young enough so i reckon he might get the gig.

Will be interesting to see if Longmire goes for one captain in 2011, rather than the co-captain system that we have at the moment.

                    I'd also go for McVeigh.

                      Or Malceski.

I know many on here have written him off as a dud because he's not recovered immediately from his second knee reco. But assuming he is able to recapture his onfield form, he has leadership written all over him. He is also the one of the mid-aged brigade who I am most confident encapsulates the "bleed for the Bloods" ethos of Kirk, Goodes and the Boltons, albeit he is not as kamikaze as Kirk and Jude in particular.

Whilst I agree that there needs to be more time given to Malceski and he shouldn't be written off, "immediately" is a little generous, liz. He returned to the senior team in May or June 08, it's now August 09.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I want premium tickets on this Bold Prediction thread for both Handy Dan and Nick Smith.

The Handy Dan is fiesty and clever!

Smith is definitely going to be a captain.
I watch him in the huddles and he is totally in the moment eyes glued to Kirky. He never gives up either which I really like. Even when his opponent appears to have him beaten he keeps at it and a couple of times, just thru the continued pressure, caused a turnover. He's also a talker, offers his encouragement to the other backs and even took Baz aside in full red phase IIRC in the Crows game. Lots to like about him.

                            Gotta agree with ya Lucky.
Handy Dan has the footy brain of a 32 year old and Smith, whilst I can't say is captain material yet (too early), certainly looks the goods.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Smith Captained the 2's to at least one, maybe 2, maybe 3 premierships, IIRC.
So he has it in him.
