Jolly is worth a top 5 draft pick at the very least, especially considering he was a nobody at pick 15 when we got him from Melbourne. Any player trade needs to involve a BOG gun coming our way.

Well, maybe the Swans made a really bad trade there.
Turned out to be a great trade, but AT THE TIME, you'd have to say that we probably gave too much up for Jolly.
But I guess that's the problem with ruckmen.
Good ruckmen are and to come by and attract a premium price.

In the end the Swans knew what they were doing and Jolly was an awesome deal.
Hopefully they can repeat that this trade season with more players.

Mclean went for Carltons pick 11.

That should put a much higher value on Jolly.

If they are asking for a round three trade for Hall, we should get a bit more.
If we are asking for a round 3'er for Hall we will be lucky to get off that well.

Semantics now really.
Deal appears to be done for all intents and purposes.

Waiting also will concern the Dogs that we may trade a draft selection or two and by completely unwilling to trade our 3rd round selection.

I suspect we may be trading 28 anyway for McGlynn/Kennedy so it doesn't matter too much in the whole scheme of things

Under the complex trade, Sydney traded small forward Aamon Buchanan to Brisbane and received pick 28 in return, West Coast traded Staker to Brisbane and received Dalziell and pick 39, while Seaby moved to Sydney with pick 39 swapped for pick 22

so we got pick 39 as well???

That's the deal I'd be hoping for as well. Much better investment from the Hawks point of view than wasting pick 9 on Burgoyne. They've got plenty of good midfielders.

I'm not as fazed by using pick 22 rather than 28 - most likely immaterial as we'll use it for another trade, or (more likely) take it to the draft and get the same player we're keen on anyway. If we have gained pick 39 then even more comfortable with doing so.

Our last couple of second-round picks have been that way - we wanted Hannebery and Meredith all along and knew other clubs wouldn't take them until later in those drafts.

The focus on "x round pick" is totally misleading IMO - each of the Bulldogs' picks are only 3 off being into the next round anyway. Their third-rounder is effectively the same as an early fourth-round pick, and so on.

Slightly surprised, in that I would have thought that pick would have gone to Brisbane rather than us.

Might give us the option of sending both 38 and 39 to the Dorks for the reported interest in both Kennedy and McGlynn, rather than 28 for both. Guess it will partly depend on how many picks the Hawks expect to us.

If we get a first round pick for Jolly, three picks in the top 30 might just about do us.

Rodney Eade said the sticking point for the Hall trade was that the Dogs were looking for the Swans to throw in a late-round pick as well.

Hall for an upgrade of 7 places in the 3rd-4th rounds. Seems fair, don't it.

Yeah, if the Dogs won't give up their 3rd rounder for Hall, then let him go in the draft.

As for Collingwood and Jolly, I'd love to see them let Jolly slip through their hands just like Plugger did
