He is a Sydney boy and only 22
He might allow a Mattner to play further up forward more often
Could be part of a swap for Hall and draft picks if Hall decides he wants to go to the Doggies????
Good thinking, I like the look of Dylan and would be happy to see him come up here. How did he look in that game?

THE Western Bulldogs say their future looks bright after re-signing Shaun Higgins and eight other young players. Along with 21-year-old Higgins, the Bulldogs have secured Will Minson, Callan Ward, Tom Williams, Andrejs Everitt, Dylan Addison, Jarrad Grant, Jarrad Boumann and Easton Wood.

This draft apparently starts to level out after the second round (good top 30, not much after).
Games played is not really a good indicator of talent. As can be seen here on RWO there are plenty of players in the swans lineup that have played almost 100 games that are still not regarded by supporters and are constantly described as not worth keeping in the side.

What I mean is that the it is a real lottery after picks ten to fifteen that you will pick a gun player (ie they could be pick 18, 34 or 54) whereas even in a good year its only the first ten to fifteen picks that you are more likely than not to get a gun.

This year I'm nervous about the draft. By circumstance we have ended up with a really great chance for a top draft pick. We haven't had that opportunity for years and, looking at the end of the season, may not in future years. Getting this selection right is so very important.

Jake King? We'd be much better off with Nathan Brown or Mark Coughlan.

No, not really. I rate Nate but he would be another Henry. I wouldn't mind the fiesty little cracker in our mob though. Put him and Vespa together and we would have, umm, oooh, well perhaps not.

                          Yes,

B Hall is still on the list and would have to be traded.

Brown would be perfect if he was 5 years younger. Coughlan, though I rate him highly, firstly has big question marks over injuries, and secondly is exactly the sort of player we are overflowing with: tough, in and under players who lack a bit in the pace department. I'd be very surprised if he wasn't looked at by some other clubs, but he doesn't fit our needs.

King, on the other hand, is quick, passionate, tenacious, and has that term everybody goes on about, "x-factor". Perhaps not a typical x-factor. Not Michael O'Loughlin, Steve Johnson, Cyril Rioli, Liam Jurah x-factor, but he has spark. You know when the ball goes near him something will happen. It won't always be good, and for a while there more often than not it wasn't, but when he first broke onto the scene, and this season as well, he was reasonably effective.

At the moment, we miss a King-type player, especially with Buchy out of form (he's probably the closest analogue). Shaw has bits of King about him, the mongrel for example, but Shaw is still ultimately an outside player, and his pace is also different. King is dart like, great acceleration, buzzes around, but top-speed is probably average, whereas Shaw in full flight is a sight to behold, but is a little on the loping side at first from a standing start.

Anyway, as Liz noted, he may be the sort of player Hardwick would love to keep, and I'm not saying we should throw everything we've got at him to try to get him over, he'll never ever be a star, but if he's delisted, or offered up for a cheap trade, I'd be happy to have him at the club.

We should definitely look at Pearce. Not for too much though. I'd throw a 5th round pick at Westhoff.

Not necessarily. He's not contracted so he could just walk to the PSD if a trade can't be done.
