I think we will end up offering our 3rd rounder for Seaby if this happens Hawthorn cant outbid us because they will probably trade their second pick for Gibson.

While I don't disagree with any of the above (and I presume that you are agreeing with one of my comments that Shane Morwood never went from Collingwood to Sydney - I listed him as the Swans to C'wood) my point is the Pies love to pilfer our players... on par maybe with Carlton.

Very true. WC want a second rounder for Seaby, Swans wont do that, but Hawks might so we might not get Seaby. Plus Jolly is keen to leave so it puts us in a difficult position. If Hawthorn were to deal with us for Jolly it would have to be something like:

Pick 9 + one of Kennedy, Mc Glynn, etc

        OR

Second Rounder + one of lewis, birchall, etc.

North have a lot to answer for re: Hawthorn's attitude to trading - bent over on dreadful swaps such as Hay (and to a lesser extend Thompson). Since then Pelchen and the Hawks think trading is about exploiting the other party, otherwise they're not interested.

They wanted a first-round pick for a 32 y/o Everitt (even the second time in 2006), then last year they wanted O'Keefe without making a decent offer. Seemingly doing the same with Burgoyne this year.

If they're consistent (which is unlikely), if their offer for Gibson is pick 25, surely they can't expect anything more than a third round (or even later) pick for Kennedy (who they want so much they've only offered a 1-year deal).

From what I have read Jolly could be part of a three way deal involving Carlton, Swans and Collingwood.

            I would assume something like:

Collingwood Lose: Pick 14, quality youngster such as Dawes
            Gain : Jolly

            Swans Lose : Jolly, Barlow
            Gain : Fevola

            Carlton Lose: Fevola
Gain: Barlow, Pick 14, and Collingwood player.

I'd rather pick 9 from Hawthorn than Fev. He's probably got 3 years of his best football left, but it wont do us any good because we wont be challenging for a flag.

                Read where exactly

No way we'll give up Jolly without gaining a first round pick in return.

Gives us a rare opportunity to really bring in two talented kids for the future. We really have no need for Fevola when our planning must surely be for 2-3 years from now.

As this week has gone on I've developed a gut feeling that Fev won't be traded. I think there are too many things working against it happening. Carlton will ask for too much, his high salary etc.

And they really would be crazy to trade him given the chance to win a flag in the next few years.

Roos takes a strong stance RE: Both the Jolly and Hall Trades

Sydney coach Paul Roos said the Swans would try to help Jolly move south, but would not let their 27-year-old No.1 ruckman go cheaply.

While Collingwood have reportedly offered their first round draft pick (No.14), Roos indicated a late first-round pick was well below their expectations.

"Given what we got him for, we gave pick 15 and he's a far better player now, so that gives you an idea of what we'd be expecting," Roos said.

He's also a few years older now, so that argument doesn't necessarily have a great deal of weight. At least he is under contract, so we can dictate terms to some extent.

He's a far better player so he will most likely play a lot longer than even players four or five years younger, that the point

I actually thought as great as his logic on Jolly was, it was even better logic on Hall.

I believe thzt Collingwood gave pick 14 for Cameron wood....to show you the worth of even an unproven ruckman.
